Right, so I basically started this topic to say that I would do her.

I predict that she'll pick bizarre songs that nobody has ever heard of, will eventually become the CI5 Leslie Hunt, but she'll have a blast in the process.

I wouldn't put her on Leslie level, since I love that crazy skee-deep bop wee-dahhhh, but I'm impressed at her going in there, pulling out an original, with a guitar... when I think women in a singing competition, I think of divas, primadonnas, and musical theater geeks. I was happy to see a handful of people try originals, but with the pedigree of female vocalists being pretty low 'round these parts when I was growing up (and even the ones I've seen on the local circuit never seem able to play an instrument, even if they might write their songs) I was more impressed by her.

Granted, her inflection sucked. She mumbled like Eddie Vedder eating marshmallows at parts. But I'm always a fan of someone who is willing to write and perform from themselves over someone who will sing any crap handed to them.

Although I will stand by my prediction that she'll pull a Leslie somewhere in the competition and do something totally offbeat.

Has anyone got a photo of her performance? Or any photos at all?

Wow, if you go to her site, she has an uncanny inability to close her mouth ever when being photographed. Kind of creepy actually. It's as if she's trying to subliminally plant an idea in our head... "Please put food in my mouth."

You can't really see the skinnyness in these, but you can in the show.

She reminds me of Skye Sweetnam.

I can?t find a web design credit which makes me think there?s no massive money being poured into her career yet. Yes, she has met with EMI reps but on a show that had Rob James (That still is hard to understand. He had a top 10 song in Canada before CI.) she fits right in. Her site isn?t super-pro, just tasteful.

Fronting a swing band and studying music don?t scream plant either?BUT?there?s something about her I just don?t like and I can?t figure out exactly what it is. I like jazz, she likes jazz; she should be someone I?d be happy to see get a chance. I don?t know. Her voice didn?t stand out for me, in fact I don?t really remember much about her performance. Maybe she came off as someone I?d have personality conflict issues with.

BTW, skinny doesn?t = eating disorder. She?s no smaller than me and I?m not anorexic.

I come from an Interactive Media background, and I can tell some money was paid for this site. Maybe not a lot, but it wasn't someone doing a favor for her.

I also like Jazz, but I didn't like her. She may have good control, but overall I think it's pretty weak. You need some style, some attitude (the good kind) to sing jazz. She doesn't have it from what I can tell.

As far as the eating disorder thing, don't take that personally if you're a healthy, skinny girl. However, she is very skinny and very pale, which is not a look I find very attractive. We won't say she looks anorexic, we'll say she looks waifish.

So maybe she's a plant. Maybe she's been carefully chosen by some conspirators who have already invested a great deal of money in her career. Maybe her winning CI5 is a foregone conclusion and we're all just being taken for a ride.

So do I. I could and would put together a site like that for a friend. For a close enough friend ? free. The graphics looked pro enough to make me check for a credit but BC is multimedia designland; there?s a good chance Carly has buddies in the industry. Not insisting she got this one as a total freebie, just pointing out that a non-hideous site doesn?t mean she?s a major music pro.

I don't take much personally. There was a string of What's fat and what's not posts in the Jordin thread for AI so I'd expect no less for skinny Carly.

Her site is definitely professionally done. (*former website designer here) I have no issue with her size, I work with one person who shops in the kids section because she's just tiny, she's an Australian size 4, which I think is about size 0 in America? Just naturally tiny.

But there's something fishy about this one....and I too love jazz, but I'm suss on her. :lakisha

And physically she looks about 13, because she's so tiny, and she has a very young face, to me.
