At least he tries to entertain the audience--something several other contestants consistently forget.

I dug the performance and agree about the beginning, but I border on fantarding when it comes to Mook, so I avoid posting about him more often than not.

He picks great songs, but his voice is pretty much shit. He ruined "Lola". I do like him a bit. He plays cool guitars, and he is ten times more talented than David Cook.

So long Mookie.

If you'd sung last night like tonight's send off you might still be in the hunt. Oh, but that's the way it is all the time on Idol.

Nevermind Mookie, it's not like the majority of Canada care or watch the show Laugh

I'll buy your CD when you get one out there. Get yourself to the UK, I think they'll love you there.

What is wrong with you Canada? Mookie was the best singer of the last 5 left and should in no way of been voted off , especially over Earl whom in my Opinion looks dopey and Mitch sings thru his nose and looks like alvin in the chipmunks, lol

Mookie rocked it man, great stage shows, presence, dress,a real star.

I am just shocked to see that canadians would vote mitch and earl over mookie.

I would of bet it all on Mookie to win and Theo 2nd

Mitch and Earl need to go, they ********

Hell Sanjaya on AI was better then they are lol

Laugh VFTW Victory

And Smartie, I agree. I think Mookie would make a pretty good album.

I liked him. He managed to leave in a good way... getting his aggression out in a "classic rock" fashion with a guitar-smash.

When people say "voted off" though, they have it wrong; the person who goes home is the one that gets the fewest votes. A bunch of us voting for Mitch has nothing to do with the fact that Mookie had fewer votes than Earl, Drew and Theo. So I'm thinking that we need to help out Mitch AND Earl next week, to try to get rid of either Drew or Theo.

*sigh* OK. I can't vote for Earl with a clear conscience anyway; the Judges have been pushing him too hard.

But hey, I just want Theo and Drew both gone so we can have our dream final of STONER vs. DORK. Is that so bad? I want the boring ones to go home.

They'll all be gone one at a time, as long as we keep on voting for Mitch. If not, the squeaking ends next week.

Brunton's pissed.

Why losing Canadian Idol may be good for our Mookie

Posted: August 20, 2008, 4:43 PM by Rob Roberts

By Sarah Millar, National Post

The Mookie fever that gripped Toronto has ended, with Mookie Morris?s elimination last night from Canadian Idol.

However, the 18-year-old did not leave the stage before making Idol history ? no one from Toronto has gotten as far as he did.

In an interview today, Mr. Morris was very soft-spoken and didn?t seem to come across as the guitar-smashing rock star he was last night on Idol.

?I guess it?s bittersweet in a way because I?d love to stay, but I?m excited about what?s to come,? he said.

Moments before his elimination, judge Jake Gold told him no matter what happens, Mr. Morris is to call him on Monday. So does he plan to take Mr. Gold up on that phone call? Mr. Morris laughs: ?Yeah I think I?m going to take him up on that.??

Mr. Morris credits his family with getting him so much fan support around Toronto, a city that Canadian Idol executive producer John Brunton last year criticized for not supporting its Idols by voting for them. Mr. Morris won the endorsement of Mayor David Miller, and his ??Vote Mookie?? signs popped up on lawns around the city.

?During the top 24, some of the judges had mentioned, you know, being from Toronto you?ve got to get them behind you. And I think my family really single-handedly won over the city, especially getting the mayor endorsing me. [That] was kind of cool. I think that helped me a lot,? Mr. Morris said.

Mr. Brunton, who was born and raised in Toronto, said he was pleased to see a Toronto contestant go so far, but still was a little upset at last night?s results.

?I?m pissed off about the show last night. I was a big fan of Mookie?s. Finally, there?s signs all over the Beaches and Leaside and Rosedale and Lawrence Park and Moore Park. It?s really, really been exciting to see Toronto get engaged and voting so aggressively.

?I will stake my reputation on the fact that Mookie will get a record contract guaranteed with a major record label,? he said.

Mr. Morris said he may delay entering university this fall after his Canadian Idol experience. He said his favourite Idol moment may have been smashing his guitar at the end of his performance of Come Together after his elimination, and that he learned a lot over the last few months from everyone at Idol.

Mr. Morris will perform at Buskerfest this Friday at 6 p.m. on the CTV stage.

Does that make Slash, Zakk Wylde, and any other person who has smashed a guitar a douche too? Chile

Hell... Pete Townsend.

Smashing stuff has been a part of rock and roll for years. :D

I thought the smash was a bit of fun indulgence and was a good way to go out.

Smashing a guitar is generally a silly, cheesy thing to do, but in Mookie's case, it was a great moment. You don't see that everyday on an Idol show.
