X-Factor IS Idol  . The reason they don't call it Idol in the UK is because Simon did not own the rights to Pop Idol, which was the original Idol show, so he created X-Factor, which he does have a big stake in, and Pop Idol was out the door.

They should have let Mark Day win. Newfies all over the country would buy the records and go without eating for a week to do it if they had to. ETA: I thought i saw Earl in my local Mac's store but wasn't sure. A lot of guys look like Earl here.

Well. From the group I joined (thanks for Kim :P), I received this message. Link to a message board which claims CI is coming back. Quote : I was at North Toronto CI and Farley Flex came to the school to chat about Toronto District School Board Idol Challenge...which looks great! Then he was asked if Canadian Idol would ever return....he replied yes and auditions should be scheduled for either march or april 2010....if that isnt so then itll definatly be returning late 2010 for the audition runnings....with a new set....new venue for the finale (either sears theatre format at acc, or roy thomson hall-my guesses) and longer dates at auditions he said example "for Toronto, we would stay 3 days of regional auditions to give all availiable talent a chance".... Sass said shed had no idea if it was coming back, yet Farley says it is? Who knows. Maybe it'll come back. Thoughts?

From what I've read/seen, the plans to bring it back are underway. Who knows. As long as they keep Zach/Jully and get rid of Ben, it's all good.
