Canada Sings isn't Canadian Idol v. 2.0. It features workplace glee clubs trying to "out dance, out maneuver and literally out sing the other teams for a chance to sing on a national stage," according to a press release.


The show will be hosted by former MuchMusic DJ and ex-CP24 dude Matte Babel, and two competing teams will be judged by a panel that will declare the winner at the end of each hour-long episode. Each glee club has picked a charity to make a donation to should they win.


You can look forward to seeing these glee clubs on Canada Sings:

The Edutones (Eric Hamber Secondary School from Vancouver; charity is B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation)

Hammer Cruisers (Hamilton Police Male Chorus from Hamilton, Ont.; charity is Project Concern)

Junk Notes (1-800-GOT-JUNK from Vancouver; charity is Harmony House Centre For Autism Research And Education Society)

Just Energetics (Just Energy from Mississauga, Ont.; charity is Knights Table)

Keg Spirits (The Keg Steakhouse & Bar from Toronto; charity is The Keg Spirits Foundation)

The Power Chords (GoodLife Fitness from Toronto; charity is GoodLife Kids Foundation)

Pulse (Scarborough Hospital from Scarborough, Ont.; charity is The Scarborough Hospital Foundation)

Run DRC (The Distillery Restaurants Corporation from Toronto; charity is Red Door Family Shelter)

The Sound Of Fire (Toronto Fire Services from Scarborough, Ont.; charity is Camp BUCKO)

Wolf Pack (Lone Wolf Real Estate from Cambridge, Ont.; charity is Tumaini Children's Foundation)

The Zooper Stars (Toronto Zoo from Scarborough, Ont.; charity is Toronto Zoo's Animal Health Care Centre


This like a combination of The Sing Off, Nick LAcey's choir show and Canadian Idol. How can this not be a massive VFTW Victory!

They're all from Ontario or BC. I doubt it will be broadcast outside of Canada. Someone please record it for us. :)

My friend went to a taping of this, and she told me that when Vanilla Ice was escorted away after so many people in the audience approached him for an autograph, she stole his Red Bull off of the judges table. Chile Creepy.
