At this rate, I think Sanjaya will actually outlast Sligh.

Man, the Beach Boys song "Wouldn't it Be Nice" just popped into my head reading this! *add music*

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldnt it be nice

Sanjaya outlasting Sligh! That would ROCK! Clap Clap Clap
Pauler would be Paula
Slimon would be Simon
and Randy would go Randy
VFTW Victory
Now I gotta turn on something to get that song out of my head.

I don't even like FroFaFu, but I'll admit to possibly being the only person on the internet who enjoyed his stupid Coldplay remix. I had similar feelings about his performance as I did about Blake's (although I liked Blake a lot more, because I just like him in general). Neither of their arrangements were exactly genius, but they both tried to mimic a style relevant in today's music industry and I found it refreshing.

I can agree with Chris Labelle

About doing a different arrangement even if it may not have come off 100% at least it's different.

I am an old moronic asshole and even I get tired of hearing the "oldies" for chrissakes. If I want to hear them, I want to hear them from the original artist not these kids who have probably never even heard of these people.

Change it up, do something contemporary for a change, how many Barry Manilow theme nights can anyone take?

I watch this piece of shit show and think I am in some lounge on the Love Boat.

I thought it was decent. Nothing spectacular, although vocally he was very good. His arrangement was better than Blake's distracting bad 80s synthesizer. My issue is...we hear "karaoke" thrown around a lot on this show, but when someone tries to show some originality they get smacked down. (Unless, of course, Live did the new version first) "Endless Love" is not a sacred classic that cannot be touched, no more so than "I Walk The Line" is, anyway! Chris Sligh and Blake Lewis cannot do a straight-up version of a fucking Diana Ross song without sounding absolutely awful--they're just not that kind of singers. So they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. It's better to have been yourself and not be perfect than to have done a craptacular job trying to be someone else.

If Endless Love wasn't such a well-known lovesong, I think more people might have been receptive to his arrangement. However, that song is done so slowly to draw out the emotion, that is what people expect when they hear the song. I give Sligh some props for putting a new flavor on it. At least it shows he isn't afraid and boring!

I'm not ready to see him voted off yet either Tabi. There's so few interesting contestants this year, I don't want the fun ones to leave yet!

I didn't know Diana Ross was such a nice person.

"I think Chris needs to just listen more to the melody of the song and find that hook. That is the thing that will sell this song AND it will sell him."

translation: "I hate that Coldplay remix. Ass."

I thought it was "okay". And he should have kept his glases on. he needs to just wear different style glasses instead of showing off his beady rat eyes.

I'm man enough to admit, that Slighdeshow Bob's version of Coldplayified Endless Love has been in my head for the past two days, no matter how many times I bang my head against the floor.

For me it's not what he did with the song it's that he chose it.

No man over the age of 21 should friggin sing "Endless Love",
it's pure drivel. An original take on crap is still crap.

I don't agree with Blake and Sligh can't sing a Diana tune either.
I've heard tons of guys do Supreme songs just fine.
Original, rocked out, blusey. I hate Phil Collins but his "Can't hurry love" was a perfectly good take on the tune.
What kinda sorry ass singer can't do a Motown tune straight up?
it's not that these songs are so sacred, it's that they are
so damn easy to sing. Hell, Diana Ross did it why can't they?

I'll talk about Slight again in a second but indluge the OT post for a moment. I just want to point out that there's TWO Stern related avatars on this page (FordMandalay's Cabbie pic) -- I registered on this site a coupla weeks before Stern threw his weight behind Sanjaya and I could not be happier that the Stern world and the VFTW world are uniting. OK, don't want to turn this into SFN -- back to Sligh.

The thing with Slighdeshow Bob is that I thought he was smarter than he really is. I thought he really had a strategy to try and win this thing, and for all I know maybe he still does - but I'm starting to have my doubts.

I actually thought Paula got it right when she said he was trying too hard to be hip -- he's gotta realize that he is not out in the high school parking lot with the indie rock kids smoking clove cigarettes and listening to Arcade Fire, he's sitting in the lunch room with the kids from the school choir who are excited about auditioning for the school's production of Guys and Dolls. Let's face it, if Slighdeshow Bob was just naturally hip and edgy, he wouldnt have spent a week of his life auditioning for AI. Instead he just seems like he's about being hip and edgy.

PWE is as hip and edgy as AI will ever be and the only reason why PWE got away with it was because he could sing, he had the rocker moves down, and you could tell that in his heart, PWE really loves Live and Fuel and all those other goofy 90s one-named bands that poured their hearts out over minor chords. PWE's music and his taste in music is not my bag, but he came off as sincere (if he was really sincere or not, I dunno - but he sure seemed it). Slighdeshow Bob does not seem to have that kind of heart or at least he's not faking it well enough -- instead he's coming off as the nerd who is trying too hard to be cool.

This is a reminder to Chris:

Tuesday is coming, and this will be your final chance to reclaim your manhood. Remember, two simple words:

"HI DAVE"

Say these two words and I swear I will never bash you or call you a pussy again and that I'll use whatever influence I have to get you votes. Don't say these two simple words, however, and I will endlessly bash and humilate you until you are voted off the show.
The ball's in your court, chubby.

Ya know, I was all for Sligh at the beginning (of course I only V'edFTW, mind you) I liked the fact he was comical and edgy.... but ever since he apologized to Simon, he just seems like he's one of those 'Too cool for the room' types..... in which who I hate ion life. I hate fucks like that, btw.

Randy "So yeah, dawg... I did not love that. I don't think I love you anymore."

Which sucks, because I am all about the FaFu's. They make the world go 'round.

Chris Sligh reminds me of some fat guy in plush-toy costume who gets paid to walk around Six Flags and have his picture taken with screaming kids.

He's fat, he can't sing his way out of a wet paper bag and... uh, he's fat. Fuck him.

He also thinks Gina's the shit, and on ITV he talked about sabotaging the other contestant by advising them to pick shitty songs. He's probably kidding though....or IS he???
