Well I was laughing at him that's for sure, just like everyone who's ever appeared on the show. i hope they give him a show so I can laugh at him some more. But I have no clue why anyone pays any attention to anyone after they leave the show or even buy something like a cd. There is just too much quality music already out there to pay for such mediocracy.

Actually I'm not speaking for anyone. I'm just calling a spade a spade. Thing is, to most viewers the joke got old. And the joke was on the eardrums of all of America.

But this only partially reflects my personal opinion which is, his interestingness and "fuck it, I'll just have fun" approach redeemed his lack of vocal ability. As a singer he was ass, but as a performer he was light years ahead of all his fellow contestants. He was horrible, but horrible in an awesome way in comparison to the posers, phonies, vampires, Wookiees, ogres, girls gone wild, Jack Osborne impersonators, beatboxing jagoffs and white bread surrounding him. They too were bad, but they were also boring as all get out. Plus, anyone who makes Simon threaten to quit is a pimp in my book.

Same here - Sanjaya is hilarious to watch because he is that awful, but also hilarious to watch because he knows it and is playing it up. And the fact that his being around so much caused people to have seizures of rage, even more priceless! He was the most entertaining contestant I've seen on American Idol :)

Antonella in the Washington Post

Quote:
Antonella Is Booked This Summer at CU

Antonella Barba is coming back to Washington! Almost definitely. She's pretty sure, anyway.

The Catholic University architecture student, who became a whirlwind sensation on "American Idol" and a cautionary tale for the MySpace generation, says she'll return this summer to make up the classes she missed while competing on the show, in hopes of graduating with her friends next spring. Though if showbiz offers arise . . . ?

"If I want to do music, I'll have to pursue it," she said hesitantly. "Wouldn't it be great if I could do both?"

At least we'll (maybe) have her around for a bit. Our other local-ish Idol, third runner-up LaKisha Jones , had only lived at Fort Meade for a few months before she was whisked off to Hollywood; now she plans to move back to Houston or settle in L.A.

New Jersey native Barba, 21, was an early breakout star this season. A coltish beauty with a jazzy vibe, she briefly became the most Googled girl in the universe. So of course someone leaked boudoir photos to the Internet; later some XXX-rated photos emerged, though friends denied the woman in them was Barba. When some "pitchy" notes just barely kept her from the top 12, Barba vanished: "I just wanted to stay out of the public eye a bit." While other "Idol" evictees jumped at any fame-extending invitation, Barba says she didn't return a phone call for two months.

"You have to wait for what's right," she said. "You can't take the first thing."

If she had to do it all over again -- the mortifying loss of privacy that came with fame -- would she? "Um . . . I don't regret going on 'American Idol.' I'm thankful for the opportunities. . . . Even if you've made right or wrong decisions, you can't regret them, because you've learned from them. Everything happens for a reason. I'd like to know what it is, though."

So, she's coming back for summer classes . . . and definitely for the fall? "Probably!" she said. "It's a question mark."

Your intrepid AB investigative reporter has discovered that Blake Lewis and Jordin Spearks are not the only ones singing the National Anthem at sporting events recently.

Although not as large a venue as Safeco Field or an NBA auditorium, our girl is still plugging away.

Quote:
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Antonella Barba of Point Pleasant, who was among the final 16 contestants on the most recent season of American Idol, will sing the National Anthem at the June 26th Lakewood BlueClaws game.

"The opportunity for our fans to come out and hear Antonella sing and enjoy a great day of baseball really makes for an exciting day for everybody," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "It should be a fun event for everyone who makes it to the ballpark that night."

Barba, who once toured with the Monmouth Conservatory of Music in England, is a current student at Catholic University in Washington, DC.

I am still searching for a you tube on this one, as well as pics from her American Cancer Relay appearance with Jarod on Friday.

Anyone here near there and going to the game? Idols doing National Anthems are big this year.

What the hell are Can Coozies?

Over the last few days, I started at the beginning of this thread and read through every single post and many of the links. Since I had joined just as Ant was voted off, I wanted to get a better perspective on what the board had thought about AB from the first impressions from the NYC audition on.

The changes in opinion by some of the members as the early season progressed was very interesting. When Ant was finally voted off, many the reactions were literally identical to to the comments we heard later as Sanjaya met his final demise.

I reposted a few days ago Sanjaya's Bathwater You Tube.

Here's an ode to Our Blessed Saint.

That's a lovely video tribute, but I prefer these:

The most amazing part of the thread is how the pictures leaked one-by-one and got gradually raunchier. We were like 'It can't get worse than this!" and it always did. Poor Antonella! She got a lot of hatred because of Amanda. What's hard to deny, however, is that Antonella must have done something to really piss someone off. Plus, I'll always believe the calender pictures (War Memorial, etc.) are professional. I wouldn't be shocked if her "colleagues" were jealous of her, coupled with her having a snooty attitude, thinking she's better and smarter than everyone. I went to school with a 100 Antonellas and Amandas at McGill. They're intolerable in groups, not bad one-on-one.

If you want to have Ant contact us, you must make her understand that we are the ones who proved the BJ pix were fake. We have evidence:

http://www.votefortheworst.com/node/144

-there's confirmation of this all over the net

If you try hard, you'll be able to contact her. She's singing the national anthem at a ballgame soon in Jersey. Antonella's so patriotic! I wonder what she'd think of your Salmonella thread? Sometimes I peak in, late at night!
Good luck!

I have written to her C/o her my space account and did exactly that a few weeks ago. She has my personal e-mail account.

So far the best I have back is being accepted on her myspace friends list.

Definitely agree with you there STP - those shots, at night, at a fountain, were professionally done. It's way too well lit to be taken with one camera and no extra flash etc. And whoever released them did so deliberately. That one user, Sue, who posted a lot of the provocative but mild shots, is she/he still around? That person certainly had access to a lot of personal photos.

Sabrina, I too have read the whole thread, playing catch up on these people as I don't know who so many contestants are. It's good to see everyone rallied to show what was quite obviously fake - when I saw the BJ shots pop up online (pre finding VFTW) I didn't think it was Antonella just by looking at her face and the girl in the BJ shots. I also felt terribly sorry for Antonella, imagine having that stuff said about you or me or your friends or relatives? That's really really wrong. Poor thing.

I hope Antonella drops by here someday, and sees that she has a lot of support still.

From TMZ.com:

Paula: Gimme a Birthday Hug, Kids! Now!

Posted Jun 20th 2007 11:42AM by TMZ Staff

Paula Abdul was spotted giving out hugs to a group of children outside her birthday party last night -- with the embraces hovering somewhere between overly nice and extremely awkward.

On her way into Ketchup in West Hollywood, Abdul walked up to a group of five children, and hugged each of them one by one, curiously lingering a bit too long with the kids, the youngest of whom couldn't care less about the "Idol" wackette.

With no Simon, Randy or Seacrest in sight, Abdul's b-day scavenger hunt was an "American Idol" wannabeen fiesta, with Season 6 rejects including Gina Glocksen, LaKisha Jones, Chris Richardson and Hayley Scarnato all taking part in the festivities.

Apparently, Antonella Barba was busy.

lol The tour group also rans were there. The ones listed as...

"Sanjaya is coming on tour to xxxx city! Also singing will be the American Idol winner and eight other contestants.."

The handlers probably ordered gina and company there.

Antonella is in wardrobe this week as they design new gowns for her premier flipping letters this fall on Wheel of Fortune.

In other daytime television news, the rumor still persists that David Della Terza, founder of VoteForThe Worst.com is actively being considered to replace the retiring Bob Barker on CBS's long running "The Price is Right".

In Chicago, we tried to confirm this rumor in person. Unfortunately, we were met at the door by an angry nun with a ruler that issued us a "No Comment" and then chased our camera crew off the property.
