OK, who watched, and what is your take on this new version of the original?

As for me, I think they rushed the plot. The good thing about the original was that they gradually worked its way into what the Visitors intentions were. Nobody knew they were lizards until the second night (Which was about three hours in.)

Its basically a watered down version with updated effects compared to the original.

You could clearly see the original was fable to show how facism can take over a nation. Scientists were stand ins for Jews for instance.

It wasn't as good as the teasers and previews made it seem. Didn't live up to the hype in my opinion. I'll continue to watch and see how it plays out. But, as ABC always seems to do, they will probably cancel it.

The original was way better. Scott Wolf must have had some work done. He looks exactly like he did on Party of Five!

I remember watching the original as a kid, and I loved it.

SyFy ran a marathon of the original on Sunday and I DVR'd it. We plan on watching the original V, and then watching the remake to see how they compare.

I'm sure that the remake has much better effects, however, I'm betting the original's story, and development is going to be better.

How can it not be? The original had Freddie Kruger before he was Freddie! In V he was just a lost alien who didn't speak much English. Loved it. I also don't see how the "new" Diana can compete with the creepiness of the original. You just knew there was something off about her. They didn't even keep her name the same did they? Isn't she Anna in the remake?

From what I hear, at least V won't be like Heroes with no end in sight thus making all the seasons after it weak in comparison to the first one. Right now, if ratings hold up, they'll have one or two seasons then give it a ending.

ABC breaks up launch plan for new sci-fi series ‘V’
September 25, 2009 | 4:22 pm

It looks like it won't be quite as smooth a liftoff for the alien invasion drama series "V" as initially planned.
ABC has confirmed that it has refigured the launch plan for the new fall drama, which is set to premiere Nov. 3. The network has decided to air just the first four installments of the Warner Bros. Television-produced series — and then place "V" on hiatus until after the Winter Olympics

ABC’s V Officially A Remake (Duh) & Shooting Paused

Not sure if you’ve been following or heard the news, but there were some legal rumblings in regards to what ABC’s new take on their remake of V was going to be.

The issue was that the Writers Guild (WGA) couldn’t decide if V was a remake or not.

Warner Bros. Had recently taken the stance that V wasn’t a remake. If it were deemed to not be a remake, Ken Johnson, the original creator wouldn’t see his name in the credits of this new version or get any royalty payments based on the new series.

This stance forced the WGA to go into “Remake Arbitration” (eh?). As it stands, the WGA ruled that the new pilot is indeed a remake. Now they need to determine the specific credits that the original creator, Ken Johnson, would get.

I watched the premiere and really liked it. What I don’t like is that they are only going to show 4 episode and then take a hiatus until March 2010. ::assholes

They needed a team of people to figure this out? From what I've seen so far, some of the lines were lifted from the original almost word for word. How could this be anything but a remake?

Is it a remake of the first mini series or the second? The first was great, the second not so good. The tv show was really crappy.

I remember hiring the videos of both mini series when ill some years ago, and rewatching it all within a couple days in a fever induced hazed Laugh It was an awesomely silly show. I don't know if I'd watch a remake. Are the actors any good? Is it still cheesy good?

I think it's following the first mini-series, not sure though. Watch the premiere Smartie. I enjoyed it.

It's basically a rehash of the first one. Like Stingray said, it was pretty rushed. The original was fun because for awhile you weren't sure about the Visitors. In this one it's like, "Here are some aliens, and oh yeah, they're here to fuck us up. Carry on for the next 55 minutes."

The "new Diana" will never live up to Jane Badler's Diana. I remember having nightmares of her as a child. Scary, scary woman.

Scott Wolf is really starting to look eerily like Michael J. Fox. He's married to an old friend of mine. They come to town pretty often to visit her family. Next time they're around I'll have to see if I can get up close enough to see any sign of "work". If he hasn't had any work done, I wanna know his secret for sure. No one his age should have a forehead that smooth.

Of course, I should add that I'm a Joss Whedon tard so I enjoy seeing Alan Tudyk and Morena Baccarin.

I haven't seen the original in years, but this one seemed almost exactly like it with a bit of They Live thrown in.
Seems like we found out the V's secret really early. That surprised me. But I guess they figure everyone already knows the basic plot.

It kind of bothered me that they were trying to say that the V's were terrorists and stuff. Not sure why but it didn't sit well.

I'm sad to say it didn't really keep my interest. Love to see Alan Tudyk, though. :)

It is actually a combo of the two.

I caught the 4400 reference too. Could be because I am reading a 4400 novel. How I miss that show!

My husband for some reason thinks this show is going slowly. No idea why. I think it is moving at a decent pace. I told him maybe it is because he watched the original, so he knows what is going to happen. We seem to like it so far at least.
