Vote for the Worst supports the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life
We've wanted to do a charity drive on VFTW for years now, but didn't want to look like we stole the idea once American Idol unveiled their gigantic Idol Gives Back extravaganza. But then we thought, who cares, doing something good for a charity at any level is worthwhile in every case. This week, Vote for the Worst encourages you to help donate to Relay for Life, which supports the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early. Many of you know someone personally affected by cancer. And even if you don't, can you believe that more than 1.3 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year? Vote for the Worst's goal is to raise $1000 to help Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, and VFTW's Dave will be walking during this year's Relay for Life. Please support this great cause by making a donation. Even if everyone from this website donated $5, it would add up to an incredible amount. And if we surpass our goal, we'll set a new one. Donating will make a real difference in the lives of people facing cancer and in the lives of the people who love them. To donate, click on this link and choose donate on the next page. Thank you for your support! |

| Dave, since I don't have a PayPal acct. and therefore have not been able to donate to VFTW directly I donated to Relay For Life on your behalf. Also, a dear friend of mine just passed away on Thursday after a 7 year battle with colon cancer. The funeral is tomorrow. I guess you hit me up when I was vulnerable. She has a 9 year old daughter (as do I), so this is especially heart breaking for all of her friends. I hope you raise a million$. |

Thank you so much, Lola. I think it's great to use this platform that we have here to help do something good for a worthwhile cause, and I hope we raise a lot too |

This is great, Dave! My little sister fought a horrible battle with cancer a couple years ago and won. Lola, I'm so sorry about your friend.
Relay for Life is an excellent charity. You couldn't have chosen better. |

Lola, you can donate to VFTW directly (sorry about the off-topic). I don't have a paypal account either and I still donated. You can just use your credit card directly.
In any case, I will donate to this cause as well. I lost too many people (including my mother and two aunts) to this terrible disease. Dave, even if you follow in AI's footsteps, who gives a fuck? It's for a good cause and at least we don't make a horrible cheesefest out of it. |

Well, I'm using my hubby's card and he doesn't mind if I donate to Relay For Life/ACS. VFTW I'm not so sure about! (Actually it's my card but he gets the statements.) |

To pitch in and do my part, I've decided to take up smoking and starting every morning with a hearty breakfast of asbestos and plutonium. Dammit I just HAVE to be contrary!
Oh, and Carly's fat. |

Walk for the worst, Dave!
It's been 18 years since Vicomama lost the battle....She would have gotten such a hoot out of VFTW ~ I learned snark at her knee.
Q: How did David Archuleta burn his head?
A: Bobbing for french fries.*

My aunt was recently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, and as cancer runs in my family (two of my grandparents dying of it over the past 6 years) I'll be donating my whole next check to this. I'm only sixteen, and so I don't make a lot every two weeks with the hours I get (working at a pizza joint) but I'll give what I can. I was planning on buying myself a PSP, but that can totally wait another couple of weeks, especially with it being such a good reason.
Thanks Dave. This is a good charity.

Congrats to you, Dave, for taking part of this important endeavor.
I'll be making a donation next payday...like many other posters, cancer has impacted my family as well. My dad died from colon cancer when I was a toddler. |

I had a little scare with my right boobie not too long ago, which thankfully turned out ok.
Great cause and I'll definitely chip in. You should consider the Canadian equivalent so we can get our tax deduction? (sorry to be so practical). |

Maybe the Canadian equivalent during Canadian Idol?
Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, we're almost halfway to the $1000 goal in half a day! If we make it, which I'm sure we will, I'll just up our goal. It'll be stickied to the top of the main site for the entire week. You can still donate after that point, but I'm really trying to push this week to get as much help as possible while charity is on viewers' minds to really help out.
I also have something in mind lined up for Final 4 week that will impact charity as well, so stay tuned for that
But for now, keep donating and encourage friends and family to donate as well. The more stories I hear about people's lives being touched by someone with cancer or their own experience with cancer, the more passionate I'm becoming about this. |

Sounds like a plan (thankfully I'll be watching regularly this year).
Halfway through. Awesome! |

Sadly, everyone has a story about cancer. Good job Dave! As a student in the last few weeks of college I really have no money to spare. If and when you do something during the CI run this summer I will do my best as I'm praying that I will have a job by then.
Good luck on the walk/ run and I hope that everyone can donate |
