Clay Aiken's coming out as a gay one of these days. According to Perezhilton.com:
Quote: It has yet to air in the west coast - where we are today - but a trusty special correspondent caught the Gayken's interview with Diane Sawyer this morning and this is what went down!
- He more or less tells Diane that what he told her in back during the PrimeTime interview a few years ago and what he said in Rolling Stone was wrong (that he liked vagina).
- That he should not have addressed his sexuality by giving the answers he did back then.
- He refutes things that are on the Internet about him and says that the stuff he reads in the magazines are hurtful.
- She asks him about his faith and tolerance in a Baptist Church and he says that Jesus loves Blacks, Jews, Gays, etc.
- He said he is going to be very stubborn and not come outright and say that he is gay, because what he does in his private life is his business. And asking about it is rude he thinks.

I kind of like that stance, to be honest.
Part of me wishes he'd come out in an "it's nothing to be ashamed of" kind of way. But the other part agrees that it really isn't anyone's business. And just because he's a celebrity doesn't mean he should have to expose his private life to the universe.
Totally not a Clay fan, (and still reserving the right to mock an AI contestant who puts out an album of all covers) but I think I might hunt down this interview on the video sites. |

| i think it would be better if clay just comes out. i think the mystery of 'is he gay?' is the reason everyone bugs him about it. But he is right, it really isn't any of our buisness, and he would probably lose half of his crazy nutbar fanbase. |

| I agree...it sucks that a person has to spend so much time/energy trying to keep their private life out of the public eye......they say it's what the public wants to know, but the press/tabloids spend their whole time trying to convince the public that it's their right to know.....You can get $50,000 for the right picture of Star X with a man, but get a picture of a child living in squalor, and you get $1.95.....what a sad thing..... |

Uh-Oh!
Clay's CD release party! (that's a cardboard cutout of Clay, I kid you not)
The "Clayford Wives," which was a light-hearted take of the movie, "The Stepford Wives," performed a skit where each wife was assigned to a different domestic chore. One was his cook, while another made costumes. One walked Aiken's dog, Raleigh, while another was in charge of keeping his clack, Aiken-speak for fan book, in order.
Rabid Claymates at a Wal-Mart buying 10-20 copies of his new CD
Here comes the....
CLAMBULANCE!

| Jeanne is going to lose her shit if he ever comes out. Maybe that's why he won't - all that praying for him and everything, you know. |

Suddenly being callled a Soul Patroller doesn't seem like such an insult.
Wow. I had no idea. |

Wow. That is just scarier than I even imagined. There was a Clay cd release party at a place by me the other day. Now I'm sorry I didn't go snap pictures.

| The only shirt I have that is in any way remotely connected to AI, is my ghetto VFTW shirt I made to wear when I was stalking the Nazis....and which I still wear with pride.... |

I've just gotta say that playacting like you're one of Clay's many slave-wives is a little more frightening than the t-shirts.
I've never bought more than one copy of a CD in my life. What do you do with the extras?
ETA: I have a Morrisey t-shirt from his concert. And a Dime Store Prophets shirt... but those would make up my entire musician t-shirt collection. |

You send the extra CD's to homeless shelters, Claena.
I've heard rumors that the way L. Ron Hubbard stays on the best seller list so often is that some of his followers go and buy like 100 copies of his book and then return 99 of them later, because returns aren't counted/don't affect sales/the list, so maybe that's what they do with the extra CD's too. |

| I think wearing an article of clothing with sequins on it is grounds for automatic revocation of my groovy goth-chick membership card. |

I posted this the other day in the Official Media Thread
On "Good Morning America" this morning, Clay Aiken wouldn't say whether he was gay or not -- but his unrelenting skirting around the issue suggested that he could very well be gay, but just doesn't want to talk about it, calling it a "waste of my time."
When asked, point blank, by Diane Sawyer whether he was going to come out in the interview, Aiken gave an odd shrieky cackle, then said that he wouldn't address the speculation. And, with some nervousness, he called the speculation into his sexuality "invasive" and "rude." Finally, when asked by Diane Sawyer if it was "misleading" for him to talk about liking women in interviews just after his run on "American Idol," Aiken responded by saying he was "naive."
Aiken also said that he isn't unduly curious about other celebrities' (or people's) lives -- except for the "whole Jen and Angelina" thing. |
