This was a devastating defeat.  No use to sugar coat it.  Sanjaya is a worthy successor, but if he is first out of the top 12, all credibility of the influence of VFTW will be shot.

Whoa there. I vote for one reason and one reason only. This is a reality tv show. Period. If this was a true singing competition, no one on AI this season would even be there. We are just helping the shows rates by having people tune into the show every results night anyway. If they thought their votes were safe, people wouldn't watch the show. So in a way, we win by getting our point out, and AI wins for the people tuning in. Endo story. I'm either crazy, or right on- either way, I'm voting for Sanjaya. Top 12 here we come hahaha *Rizzle

This is a very cruel site. I registered to see what it was about, after seeing such disaster tonight on Idol results. Guys, you are messing around with someone's future. Idol has become BIG in its ability to set people on the path to a huge singing career. That is until this site obviously atarted messing around with the votes and urging people to vote negatively. I agree that the auditions are a farce and even cruel. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE STOOP TO THEIR LEVEL in order to "punish" the producers. Who is getting punished are bright and shining talents who had NO part in deciding how Idol should be run. This is NOT a situation for clowning around...it is NOT funny, and if you think it is funny then you have a warped sense of humor..a cruel sense of humor.  It is very juvenile to put it politely. This site SHOULD BE PUT DOWN and eveyone who votes negatively on purpose should realize what they are doing: destroying careers that COULD go on like Carrie Underwood, et al. IF you want to protest Idol's way of handling the auditions, then write in MASS letters and emails to the producers....get on a big campaign of letter writing....and don't throw the baby out with the wash by denying the hopes of the TALENTED kids who are striving HARD. Shame, shame, shame on those who participate in this endeavor. Now....let's see how much my post gets censored.

If they are truly talented, they will be signed. You need to realize American Idol isn't a singing contest, but an entertainment show. Hence your comment about the audition shows.

By voting (to use an example) Sanjaya, you are cutting out a place for another singer--like Blake, or Melinda, or someone else. America is deciding, and if America really thinks someone like Sanjaya should go in the Top 12 and HIGHER, then America is seriously demented. Of course, I'm betting most of the demented Americans are probably on this site. -_-
