Now that Nigel Lythgoe has left the show (ding dong, the witch is dead!), Simon Cowell says his role is going to change from puppet to puppetmaster. Simon told Access Hollywood, "“You must never depend on one person. I don’t think we would have had the success initially without Nigel but we are onto our eighth season. It feels like it’s going to be a different show this year... With Nigel there it became too much of a crowd and he is a very good producer but I think now he has stepped down I probably will get more involved." Translation: "Nigel Lythgoe was killing the show and I'm glad the fucker's gone." Simon does allude to some changes now that Lythgoe's out. He says that the middle stages and end of the competiton are usually boring and he wants to improve them. Simon also acknowledges,"they were so media savvy, these contestants, that they never showed us, or you, their true personality. In parts they were like robots. I didn’t know much more about them at the end then I did at the beginning." Great point, we've been saying that for years. So will Simon improve the show? Only time will tell, but we're not holding our breath, as we're promised change every year and it never comes through. A turd is a turd no matter how much you polish it.

Simon sez:"they were so media savvy, these contestants, that they never showed us, or you, their true personality."

GMA-7's "PINOY IDOL" was one of the few that focused on the contestants' personalities. It's now considered the WORST Idol franchise in the world.

Nahhh I don't think Simon will improve the show. It was funny to see him admitting last season was boring cause the contestants were plants though:D

Idol will probably still suck, but it won't get any worse. It will either suck in a different way or get better, so I welcome the British guy messing with his show.

Yeah, I thought that when Simon got involved with a singing competition, it spews forth boring pop singers like Leona "Bleeding Tranny" Lewis.

Well Simon's keeping the plants in for sure. From what I've seen on JoesPlace, almost every contestant has singing experience. Joanna Pacitti has recorded songs for Legally Blonde, Lara Johnston is the daughter of a Doobie Brother, Von Smith already has a record deal, Raquel Houghton is Dane Cook's ex, and the list goes on and on. They must be desperate this year because they've let some terrible people through to Hollywood this year. Does anyone remember Chris Bernheisel, the obsessed fan who interviewed celebs on the red carpet and had the photo of him and Kelly Clarkson with him at his audition? Well, he made it!

I think Idol makes the contestants look boring. Ramiele is usually an interesting interview in outlets that aren't Idol connected. On Idol? Just a boring little girl who cries a lot.

Well, word is out that a fourth judge will be added:

HER name is Kara DioGuardio.

"DioGuardio's songs have been recorded by Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Pink, among others."

Any guesses as to what the theme weeks will be?
