It's funny because I have the same view of mission work as others on here. When I went to Hawaii my family dragged me to the Polnesian Cultural Center run by The Mormons that was supposed to celebrate the culture of Polynesia. Besides feeling like it was like Disney doing Polynesia I kept thinking the nerve the Mormons had. We're celebrating a cultural we basically tried to destroy by trying to impose our religion and beliefs on. Absolutely pathetic.

However, there's people that do mission work for the purpose of bringing a little hope to people that don't have many. And they try to do it the right way, just talking and explaining, without trying to impose anything.

I can't agree with that statement. Once you start talking and explaining, you're on the cusp of imposing. And it is very difficult not to cross the line into prostheletyzing, especially if the mission is being sponsored by an organization with that goal (and this is the case with most religious missions).

I applaud people who go to an impoverished country to help people try to have a better existence. It's my belief (and many others) that it is best if done with no strings attached.
