His worst parts seemed to be the higher notes during the chorus.

However, these type of flaws in a live performance actually have a benefit: You know he's not pulling an Ashlee Simpson "hoe down" and that he's actually singing.

I think his biggest problem with that performance was that he showed zero personality. In live performances, especially with a national audience like Leno would draw, you need to smile at the camera, "to all the beautiful girls," haha, you need to do a little bit more than just grip the microphone nervously.

Anyway, the performance didn't suck totally and it's a cute little song that will end up on Radio Disney or something.

This ain't a bad song but the performance was awful. Flat, no energy, and out of tune in one too many spots.

I still like this better than "Light On".

Ok, I'm going to defend him a little here. Yes, it was terrible. The band drowned out most of it. However, I watch The Tonight Show a lot, and a lot of artists have sounded like crap on there. I don't think they have the best sound setup in that studio. So I think I'm going to give him a mulligan on this one.

Maybe it was just the audience? The TRL audience was in love with Archie and his performance seemed a lot more relaxed and happy to perform. Of course, the little teen girls in the front were all singing along, so maybe that helped too. Here's a link:

Damien Fahey Looks like a giant compared to Gaspy.

I was waiting for Damien to say "I could CRUSH you right now".

The problem with Archie isn't that he's "off key" ...many excellent song stylists don't have perfect pitch singing live all the time. I mean, Bob Dylan and Billie Holiday didn't have perfect voices, but they had something that this boy lacks. A commitment to artistry, and communicating! Poor Archie just is not an artist, and doesn't know how to really communicate a song. He's not believable. There were times on the show that I thought he did well, but in a very limited genre. He just doesn't have a point of view or personality to his singing.

It's funny because I read a review of his new album on I think it was Yahoo. They gave it generally a good review 3 out of 4 stars but it was damning praise. They said it was perfectly tailored to his core audience tweeners coming from a 17 year old who sometimes seems like he's 12. Exactly what we're always saying on here about socially inept.

Mysterioso, there were a few spots on TRL to suggest that it wasn't lip syncing - cutting longer notes short, the annoying way that he breathe in and out that made VFTW call him "Gaspy," etc.

Anyone who's performed anything publicly knows that a performance can be a lot better when the audience is into it, as these Gaspytards clearly were (think MTV had the lyrics scrolling by to make sure the teenie boppers would sing along? lol) as well as the crazy people outside with signs.

Radio Disney, here he comes!
