American Idol Lies and Says They Never Tried to Block Josiah's Album

Looks like the people at Idol realized what heartless bastards they looked like. MTV asked the Idol machine about their threat to block Josiah's album, and they said that this was untrue. Oh come on. Liars! A 19 Entertainment spokesperson said thet Idol contestants have to sign a contract that gives Somy/BMG exclusive rights for three months, but "if the contestant is in danger of losing a recording contract because of that, [19] generally will allow them out of their contract." How nice of them... This story seems like backtracking to us because Idol can't possibly stop the poor homeless kid who has a mom with cancer (their story) from releasing his album. Now they're trying to discredit Josiah to make it look like his representatives lied. Their tactic is failing miserably, as they're trying to make Josiah look like a liar so no one buys him album. We see right through it. Josiah 1, Idol 0.

Josiah is a sappy exaggerator that is using every little technique to get famous, he prolly knows that his voice alone won't do it... but hey guess its working... first his mom and now this whole thing with the contract, he is getting more stardom than he ever would have gotten.. clever little dude... wonder what his next scheme for gaining pity votes will be.. stoked!

Yes, he caused his mom to have cancer. Nice work.

This story confused me. Whether JOsiah will be successful or not depends on how talented he is. I am glad AI stopped bugging him. They should come clean about what they did.

"[19] generally will allow them out of their contract." Generally? Really? LOL That sounds like such bull. Either way, I'm glad Idol backed off.

b1dev, Obsession is more than a fragrance.

...Or, the same reps who pimped out Josiah's terminal mom/tragic backstory just wanted some more publicity.

I don't see what Idol has to gain here by crushing a poor kid's dreams or whatever. Not that they aren't evil, but they're only evil when they have something to gain from it. Meanwhile, Josiah and Co. do have something to gain from a story like this getting legs.

I think that Josiah has talent in both music and stage presence in order to make it in the industry, but to suggest that this is an added hardship for Josiah is not exactly true.

Before the Idol vs. Josiah's album started, Josiah was another failed Idol contestant. They just happened to give him about as much television time as William Hung, which in turn would give him enough publicity to sell himself to another company for an album, which may or may not be successful on talent and quality, but definitely not on the limited Idol publicity from season 7.

Now, 19 vs. Josiah's album. The feud put him back in the news. Now he might have enough hype to sell thousands instead of hundreds of records (because remember, people don't buy CD's like they used to and nothing's selling anywhere anymore).

It sounds heartless from one viewpoint, but from another, this was a blessing in disguise. If they just released it without any hype (except from VFTW perhaps), it might have bombed as bad as "Blow your mind" Carly Plant's debut.

It's simple, really.

Warner Bros. &;gt;&;gt;&;gt;&;gt; 19Evil. Thus, Warners and Josiah own.

Don't mess with the big boys.

It was all a big misunderstanding, AI did not threaten to sue Joshia, they threaten to persue him, and somewhere along the way the "per" got lost.

Let me guess, b1dev will again accuse Josiah of trying to get the sympathy vote. Here's my shocked face :-)
