She really does a cover of "Dust My Broom"? That's kind of cool. I always thought she was one of the best technical singers ever on Idol (never fell prey to "melisma fits"). She came off as vocally above reproach but kind of bland in terms of personality and image. Maybe doing her own thing might move her out of the "bland' territory. I mean, just the fact that she's consciously aping a Bob Dylan album cover (including the "Hi-Fi recording" and "Stereo" text that appeared on a lot of album covers at that time), is pretty frickin' funny. If the music has that same retro vibe, I might give it a listen.

I loved Melinda on Idol even though I questioned whether she would ever be a big success because she really doesn't fit any genre. I also thought she was cute not a beauty but decent looking. Having said that am I the only one who thinks the picture of the album cover is horrid. I don't think it looks like her. To me it looked like a guy in drag. I thought the site had photoshoped it at first.

This album is about a year and a half too late. It wouldn't have sold well as is, so now it's really screwed

Ultimately, Melinda has a very good voice, but she's boring. Plain and simple, SHE'S BORING!

IT IS NOT A "RIPOFF" OF THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN ALBUM, it is a HOMAGE to it. Is that a distinction too subtle for the genius that runs this blog? Gosh, I thought he was so much smarter and cooler than everyone else......why didn't he get it???....
