I have already seen a few news reports with headlines like "IDOL: First scandal of the season?" about this story.

Why anyone thinks this would be a scandal for Idol when they spent much of the pre-season advertising and much of the greatest season premiere EVER (!!!) pimping the appearance of "bikini girl" is beyond me.

If there is any scandal here, it is why did TPTB not figure this out sooner and have Casey in KC be the bikini girl? She could have even worked in a reference to the calendar and her fight to end cancer.

It might have denied us Ryan's "Eww, a girl! Icky!" moment though.

I'm sure the producers were banking on the news breaking. It's perfect for the show... hot enough to generate buzz and/or search traffic, but nothing scandalous enough to turn off middle America.

She's just posing in a bikini. Good god, is that the worst thing you could do? No, posing with nothing on, not even a bikini, is the worst. This is just a parking ticket.
