Danny Gokey Doesn't Fall Under the Same Rules as Ricky Braddy

So you know how Idol is asking Ricky Braddy's fansite, the Braddy Bunch, to disappear because it gives him an unfair advantage? Well apparently, hosting a charity event under your name does not give you the same unfair publicity. TopIdol found that Danny Gokey's name appears on a flyer for a dance club charity event in Milwaukee for his Sophia's Heart Foundation. While we're not sure if Danny will be there (knowing Idol's hypocrisy this year, they'll probably fly him out there and film it for footage for the top 12), how is it that he's allowed to put his name on events and publicize them while Ricky's fans can't start a website? The rules should apply to everyone or no one. Good for the charity for trying to raise money, but bad for Idol for harrassing some contestants while letting others do whatever they want.

I'm no fan of Gokey's, but the difference is that Braddy's parents advertised his website on the show. I think that was what the producers objected to.

Now, if they do film it for footage, I would object.

Hey, Paula advertised her new line of costume jewelry on the show. Fair for one fair for all...

I think that has to be the most awkward photo of two people trying to dance that I've ever seen.

If they really wanted to raise money for the charity they'd have Cloris as their headliner!

As for flying Danny in to film it for the Top 12, I'd put money on it. With the new format he, Alexis, and Michael have nothing to do for the next three weeks, so it's not like they're not available. If Idol wants to continue diffusing the "dead wife" backlash they should fly all three of them out, however. Or the first six finalists who we will know in time for the March 1st charity event.

That flier scares me. What? Contortionists? And Gokey's name on it? It's all so creepy and self serving. Isn't the supposed idea of good works to do them and not expect anything in return?

Moxie-

You're right: it looks like they're playing a game of Latin Twister. And, whose fingers are those sticking out at a ninety degree angle from each other? Maybe the guy tried to grab her knee and she's had police martial arts training?

Then there's the "black and white attire suggested", even though the chick is wearing red.

All of which begs the question: Does Danny Gokey perform Latin Ballroom dance? I'm not seeing that. I'm not seeing him covering Celia Cruz songs, either.

Adam Lambert, maybe. But not Danny.

The flyer uses the slightly vague term "Danny Gokey presents." It doesn't actually say that Gokey will be appearing in person. I suspect those attending expecting an evening of songs about graves, death and please give generously are going to be disappointed.

Danny -

Check your messages. I sent you a link for that lovely pic of Casey you said you wanted.

I almost agree. I AM A FAN OF DANNY GOKEY AND HE IS WAY MORE TALENTED THAN SOME OF THE REST OF THIS CRAP. Stevie Wright shouldn't even have been here if it was even possible for her to sing that bad. But Ricky Braddys parents advertised ON THE SHOW. They are basically free to do whatever they want unless American Idol is involved in that way. So, there isn't a problem. Danny Gokey probably won't be there in person therefore he is allowed to 'present' a good thing for charity. and raising money for charity is a lot more meaningful than a fan site.

vtfbest - Charities are good things if, and only if they are run in a fair and financially transparent manner, with a clear mission statement and with specified targets for the disbursement of funds. Can anyone show me where the Sophia's Heart charity meets any of those criteria?
