I am confused. Isn't God the ultimate micro manager, responsible for everything? If so, why the heck does the church need my money? God will arrange for the money necessary for the church to operate.

The last thing I want to do is start a political battle here, but I will defend my comparison.

Pruitt guilted his church into paying for his Escalade. Rev. Wright had his church pay for a 1.6 million dollar, 10,340 square foot, 4 bedroom house in a gated community in Chicago. Their own statement;

“It is customary and appropriate in many Christian denominations, including the United Church of Christ, for local churches to offer housing provisions for retiring clergy, especially in cases where pastors have served long-term pastorates. We support efforts by our 5,700 local churches to ensure that retiring pastors and spouses have continuing housing, adequate pension and health care, as an expression of our continuing appreciation for their years of service. Each local UCC congregation is free to honor a retiring pastor in ways it feels most appropriate to address the needs of that clergyperson’s circumstances,” wrote the Rev. J. Bennett Guess, spokesman for UCC’s national office.

My point was that most of these unassociated ministries are unscrupulous when it comes down to taking care of their own. No one heard of Rev. Wright until Obama ran for President. He was retiring. Next thing you know, Wright starts doing National interviews, he started preaching again, saying outlandish things just to keep his name in the press. This was not Obama's fault, Wright was capitalizing on the situation. Just like Pruitt seems to be capitalizing on Gokey's situation.

I wonder if FBIM's membership has/will increased as a result of Gokey's exposure. This might be an interesting story to explore as the Idol season rolls on.
