I know this is a few months old now, but have any of you seen Wicked, the musical that Adam was in before Idol? One of the main plots is that, in the Oz of Wicked, some animals can talk like people. But something is causing said animals to lose the power of speech. There is one scene in particular where a professor, who happens to be a goat, is trying to explain what is happening to the animals to Elphaba, the eventual 'wicked witch of the west.' However, as the song progresses, he too starts to lose his ability to speak and begins baa-ing ever time he tries to tell her that 'something baaaad is happening in Oz." Judging by the costumes, etc, in this clip, this looks to be some sort of party with the cast of Wicked. Everyone is laughing because they, of course, undstand the reference. And while watching the clip with that in mind doesn't negate the frivolity of this rendition of the national anthem, it may at least help you all find it less offensive.
