"I didn't read here too often last year so I don't know how you all treated Carly"

We were very nice to her.

Yes. We all loved Carly here. Everything from her wonderful facial expressions, all of her truthful comments, and her successful career pre-idol AND post-idol.

Glad our girl has a job! Hopefully, she'll get a raise or a promotion soon!

Oh yes, now I remember. The caricature of her growing out of a pot. Yes, you were quite kind to her.

I don't want to be too kind to Carly, but it was pretty obvious they ditched her after awhile. Wasn't she regularly falling into the bottom 3 as early as week 2 of the finals? I remember being surprised because of the pimpage she had received. Clearly, with her connections to Randy, etc... she was someone they had groomed for Idol, she had the most experience, was arguably the best singer - certainly the most polished and professional. So what happened?

I actually kind of feel sorry for her. It is very, very difficult to make it as a new female pop/rock star without looking like a model. I actually think Idol dropped her because fans weren't voting, partially from being mostly horny teenage girls (and menopausal frauen), partially from Simon's cutting remarks regarding her appearance, and probably partially from the fact that she wasn't that great-looking. If any of you saw the promo videos from her earlier stalled career, she was this cute (no Cristina Aguileira, but certainly marketable), bubbly girl with a voice and you could understand the interest in promoting her at that time.

Part of the reason pop music (which now includes rock, btw) sucks so badly now is it is so image-driven and if you're a girl that isn't model-hot, there's no place for you even if you're the best singer around.

Carly would be fine if she joined a rock band, but if she goes solo then looks is a big thing because you're the only one standing there. She's competing with dozens of hot looking female singers.

For men, looks isn't that important as long as you sing like you look, e.g. Rascal Flatts and Korn.

These two stupid ugly untalented whores are still getting FAR more attention than they deserve.

She scared me with the freakish faces she made. Plus, the whole thing with michael johns was really weird, I thought she was married or engaged or something. I think she deserves that position, she really is a crappy singer for all the credit she had.
