My parents were just a little too old and nerdy to appreciate the early days of rock and roll that I personally would have enjoyed so much experiencing first hand.

On a side note, I actually went to college with David Miller of "Il Divo" and saw him in quite a few operas. My roommate was his main competition for the lead tenor roles. I also went to college with Adrian Fenty, the mayor of Washington, DC. It's nice to see some my old college chums living their dreams, while I work in construction and post nonsense on this website!

And that usually at least once every season in an interview the people who run American Idol specifically state that the recaps at the end of the show every single season have always been from the dress rehearsal.

Tropics, I couldn't have said it better myself. Boston, REO, Foreigner, Styx, 38 Special, old Aerosmith, Foghat, Fleetwood Mac, all equal real rock. Fallout Boy, Fray, Nickelback, Daughtry, David Cook, and the like all equal fake rock pop emo bullshit. Yes, rap and hip hop are abhorrations, but remember, we had to suffer through disco. Kinda funny how your mother likes David Cook. I heard that when people grow older, they can revert back to childhood tendencies. I say this because my parents hated the music I loved, and now I hate the music that my kids like. In order to like that crap, I'd have to be like a kid myself.

Now what were we talking about? Oh yeah, Idol. Yeah, its a big fraud.

FenderBender: just remember, Randy Jackson played with Santana, Jerry Garcia, and Journey (ick! but an equivalent substitute for Styx). And if Tropics Mom is in her 70s, that means she was around for the REAL beginning of Rock in the late 50s and 60s. Every generation has their equivalent of frautards, even the Beatles were a teen idols. Of course, today's kids listen to more 60s rock than Disco, so there is hope yet.

Dancing Cookie - if Idol gave you $200,000 and said you have to give it back if you say anything negative about the songs you're allowed to choose, would you expose them?

Jungle Boy - 33 million VOTES, not 33 million people. Only 1 or 2 million people doing the voting, and a small % of them will buy an album. Idol makes it's money off the show, not record sales. Half a million bucks per commercial x what, 15 commercials per hour of show x what, 50 or 60 hours of show each season? That's about $450 million right there. An album going platinum makes them about $15 million.

Wow reading a lot of these posts reminds me just what I hate this fucking show.

That stuff from Archuleta's voice-coach, how they took the best song away from Archuleta and gave it to Cook that week. Great insight. Changing the tempo and everything.

One can only pray the book and this shameless pimped season finish this turd off. And though I wasn't a fan and realized Nick Mitchell/Normund Gentle was playing the show for his 15 minutes and as much cash as he can squeeze out of his AI profile, there is still no way he didn't get more votes than someone like Von Smith or Jasmine Murray. As someone else pointed out, there were all the VFTW votes and his act was enjoyed by a ton of people. He may not have had a large enough fan base to carry him to the final 5 ( if the votes were actually counted), but there's no way in hell he didn't make the final 13. In fact I would be very suprised if his actual vote totals were used, if he wasn't in the top 6 of the 13.

I bet if he hired a lawyer and challenged them to prove his votes didn't place him in the top 13, he'd either a) win or b) expose AI for the fraud it is.

The show should be classified as a game show/ contest, as the winner is awarded a lucrative recording contract and a slew of opportunities in the business. Then these pricks would be forced to produce accurate, verifiable vote totals.

And whoever was worried that cancelling the show would put an end to the site, I'm sure when people look at all the crap out there today, from politics to TV, there's more than enough shit that could be exposed and ridiculed.
