What season is this? We're into the 8th year right? Why the hell do 'contestants' still confuse the songs they WANT to sing with the songs they're SUPPOSED to sing. The lack of a question mark at the end of the 3rd sentence is deliberate. It's more of a statement than a question. Megan, bless her heart, is perfect. The bussom was in full effect, the vocals were oddly affected, and the song choice somehow failed to resemble music. I take the perfect part back, she was 90%. She needs to quit restricting her 'twist' to be perfect. Truthfully, I hope she never gives up the 'twist'. Other people I want to see succeed were killing me tonight. Once again, the judges cannot justifiably criticize the vocals of Anoop. Once again, he was criticized just the same. I like Anoop but he is the dumbest smart guy on reality tv right now. The judges comments directly influence the votes... heavily. At least 50% of them are imbeciles which means they are predictable. Give them what they want and you will succeed. If you don't know what they want, I'll explain. 1. Crowd response is always key, so pick something people know. Check 2. Pick a song with a change of pace where you can turn it and deliver that big moment. Fail 3. Riffs, range, and glory notes are especially important to them this year. Pick anything that shows off what you can do vocally. Fail 4. If you disregard #3, the song must be deep giving you the opportunity to tell a story. Fail Dammit Anoop. Being fun gets you a ticket home on this show unless you can be powerful at the same time. Remember that this is not about singing a song people like. This is about creating strong emotions on stage in 2 minutes. It's about delivering YOU through moments within a song that make your performance stand out amongst others that will be just as vocally viable. Example, in his a cappella group, Anoop performed both Kiss Kiss and Buy U A Drank. Kiss Kiss is currently the stronger performer on the charts. That does NOT make it the better choice for Idol. Buy U A Drank, in this instance, is far superior because the vocalist has to do more with the vocals. As fun as they are, avoid bubble gum songs! The vocals are too replaceable. 'Turn The Beat Around' has sent home about 3 contestants alone. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' has not. Matt Giraud went for the tender moments in the audience tonight and paled in comparison to a scripted Archuleta performance when he sang 'Imagine'. Both guys probably sing equally well but one performance was forgettable crap while the other touched people's hearts. This is a STAGE show. As good as a song may be and as well as it may have done, if it does not generate an emotional impact, it will fail on this stage. Don't be the dj who keeps the party going. -vvvvv- Be the guy who stops the party and is the only thing people want to talk about the next day... and do it in a way that gets you laid by any girl in the room.
