Simon Cowell Says, "I Wouldn't Have Saved Anoop"

From MJ's Big Blog, here is a video of Simon Cowell on Good Day LA. Fast forward to 4 minutes in. Simon says that the save was used this week because he figured the following week, the last week it could be used, Anoop would be the one with the least votes. He says he would not have wanted to save Anoop. Since Simon banks on being prescient each week, look for Anoop to be one of the 2 sent home next week. If we can get Lil past Matt, Kris, or Allison in the votes, our girl might stick around. But it's going to be incredibly, incredibly difficult.

ass

Simon seems positive about Lil this week if she picks the right song. Could be Matt and Anoop going home....or maybe even GOKEY?!

"Randy was a bit indifferent" HAHAHAHA! No shit!

"I wouldn't have wanted to save Anoop (jeesh, why do Brits still use such complicated constructs?)... but I gave my ok to save Matt who's got no chance in hell to win the competition..." Go figure the logic here. With all that frolicking with Paula, do they now drink together?

i dont get it.. i'm probably new to contributing to this site - but i have always enjoyed reading this site.

Am i correct that you back a person who the judges and the public dont want so you can disrupt A.Idol. After seeing this clip - why have you guys not backed Anoop. Its obvious that Simon and the judges dont want him and he does not seem to have a big fan base and also he is not that great - otherwise he would not be in the b# 3 . Lil has the african american demographic supporting her. So then why did you guys not back Anoop instead and drive everyone crazy ?.

Sorry new to this - so just asking ????

I think no one wants to back Anoop because he's pretty bland. Even when he does very well (according to the judges) he's in the bottom. I think if we backed Anoop, it'd be a lost cause. Plus with Lil, they give her advice one week, then when she follows it, they tell her she was awful and that she should do something totally different. It's hilarious. Maybe one week she'll snap and end up clawing out Kara's eyes or something. We can only hope...*sigh*

Because it's a flat out lie?!?

Simon would have saved Anoop. The only reason he was saying this, is because every person with a brain knew the save would have been used anyway and any person without a brain would have known it goes on Matt once he saw they turned it into the platiface show.

This is some sad attempt of them to "save face" or something by saying: "No it wasn't all that planned". Right...

On the show, he said he would save 1(!) person and that 1(!) person would be surprised.

But the fact is on the interview he said he only chose Matt because of the audience's reaction. So that's BS there.

Plus, it was agreed time and time again that the reaction from the audience is F-A-K-E!

I also found it really REALLY funny how they constantly talked about Matt being the favorite of the girls. Didn't I tell you guys they were trying to build him out to kick Kris out?

Another funny thing. At the start of the season, Ryan said that all 4 judges have to agree. In this interview, Simon says that Kara and Paula wanted and they didn't bother checking with Randy. Therefore a 3 out of 4 is good enough.

" why have you guys not backed Anoop"

Many reasons actually:

1) Just because Simon said that doesn't really mean it's true (read above).

2) Anoop actually is more popular than Lil if you check other boards (Dave did his homework).

3) Lil can't hit a single note which is funny, Simon clearly throws her off the bus, she started talking back to the judges after silencing her anger at the judges constantly.

4) Watching Simon try and back off her, exclaiming that she isn't the artist they saw all those weeks ago is equally funny and painful to watch.

5) Anoop, believe or not does, have enough fantards. He is the most likely to have gotten the sob\soft voices that went to Scott (minus VFTW)

6) Anoop has his ups and downs and seen by Judges comments.

7) Anoop constatly suck up to the judges no matter how many times they try and get him to talk back (twice already). He either appologizes or mumbles something about it.

8) Anoop is boring, Lil is entertaining.

Once again, Simon's talking out his *ss. If they waited to use the save until next week, then they would go from a Top 6 to a Top 4, missing the ever important "America, this is YOUR TOP 5" from Ryan. Just as they couldn't not have a Top 10 because it would cause confusion for the tour, they also do not want to give up their sacred Top 5. Personally I thought they would use it a week sooner, but they're idiots and didn't play the save as well as they could have. There was no drama in saving Matt after they pimped him all the way through the results show. It was just lame.

Backing Anoop just wouldn't have been as fun. He has deliberately removed personality from his performances to avoid criticism. Hard to have fun with the guy who now plays it safe every week. If he continued a string of 'Beat It' songs complete with the shoulder flicks, chest thumps, and hourglass women hand gestures... you know, his hip hop 'cool' moves... he would have made an awesome VFTW contender.

His fantards are hardcore but they're mostly female and have kept largely to themselves after early Sanjaya comparisons. I think a lot of other people(guys) like Anoop, secretly, but the early flop followed by adult contemporary monotony hasn't made it easy for guys to support him publicly... even in a bad way.

Simon probably didn't care to save anyone this week. But, the order from above was given in advance. It's why they could experiment with the alternating judging comments. It didn't matter.
