Just to cheer some of you up who are unhappy with the results - today my school elected to its student council one of the laziest people who bsed his way through the speech (saying that he would like change from the previous student government, who he held responsible for the state of the economy).

VFTW victories start small.

Face it: none of us are going to be really happy with anyone from here on out as a VFTW pick. But........... if Idol can resurrect essentially dead disco talent (to make the idols seem not so bad???), then maybe we can resurrect Scott from season four, Sanjaya, Tatiana, Bucky and Kevin. And that wonderful Mikalah!!!!!! A girl can dream, can't she? And while I'm dreaming, maybe I should ask for whirrled peas and a TV singing competition that does not have so much in common with a Hoover, Dyson or Electrolux.

You guys have it wrong. America isn't racist, it's in decline. It's in such decline that we can't find any black brothers and sisters who can actually sing and dance anymore. The fact that someone of middle eastern decent was able to hang in this long is an indictment of the quality of our racial stock, not of racism.

Not only wasn't there a decent black singer from the beginning of the show, African-Americans couldn't even rise up and vote for Lil. Perhaps now that there's a black president, there's no need to aspire to being entertainers....

Coming signs of the coming apocolypse will be a white guy winning the NBA dunking contest and the Fox dancing show contest.

America isn't as racist as Idol. If we had Simon saying on TV every week that Obama was dreadful and karaoke, and Pauler slurring strange hyperboles about McCain while Kara told the old dude he had the total "package" and Randy told McCain, "Dude, you can govern!", the presidential election probably would have had a different outcome too.
