I see Paula stopped off at Frederick's of Hollywood before she delivered the dog. She does like to show off the old melons, doesn't she?

PetCo has something spoken by Paula on the PA system between the canned music. I work there and hear it all day long. However, as soon as I hear "This is Paula Abdul and it costs X amount of $$$ to train a single guide dog" my ears tune out. So she is somehow involved with the guide dog foundation. It's a wonderful organization. I'll listen more attentively when I go to work tomorrow.

Is it just me who thinks it must be somewhat insulting to be given a seeing-eye-dog after having been blind your whole life and clearly managing without one? I mean ... I'm sure that if he wanted/needed one, he'd have got one for himself by now.

I call "publicity stunt" Nobody just "gives" someone a seeing eye dog. There is a lot of testing and training that a blind person goes through before they are assigned a dog. Many people don't want guide dogs, they prefer the cane, for many reasons.

I know one of the groups around here works to get dogs for people who need them. There are a lot of people that want them that either can't afford the dog, or can't afford the travel for the training and the time off work for the parents to take someone out to the center, etc. So I don't think it is necessarily true that everyone that wants or could use a dog already has one by the age Scott is. I think some of the groups do have a pretty long waiting list because they only can train so many dogs a year. Hopefully she worked with him to make sure that was something he wanted or needed, but I would think the agency would have checked things out. It would be nice to know if Scott's been on a waiting list or had interest before but just couldn't work things out. I do think it has a lot more to do with Paula getting some good publicity than anything else.

Maybe Scott never could afford a dog like this! I admired Scott &; I feel this was a very nice gesture on Paula part:

Just look at that doggie lovin' on ol' Scottie. Kinda makes you go awwwww. Don't know what all the circumstances are that had this come about (yes, dogs and people have to work together for awhile to make the fit work) but from this pic, it looks like the Worster pup and Worster guy are hitting it off.

It's hideously easy to ascribe ulterior motives to the people involved with this moronic show. But I will give Pauler the benefit of the doubt on this one unless proven otherwise.
