Jorbacca's God is an Awesome Battlefield

People keep pointing this out to us, and we had to laugh because it's true. Jordin Sparks' new song "Battlefield" is just a rip off of a Christian song called "My God is an Awesome God". Listen to the chorus of Battlefield and then My God is an Awesome God. They're the same damn song. Either she's doing her preachy thing again or she's stealing music now. Maybe she thinks she's Daughtry?

Dave, you should also mention that she also completely ripped-off Pat Benatar's "Love Is a Battlefield". I mean, the lyrics literally state at one point: "Why does love always feel like a battlefield?" Jorbacca must've eaten Pat Benatar and is now attempting to channel her. Except Pat Benatar + 400 pounds of Taco Bell delicacies = this piece of shit single/album.

Either way though, bahaha.

It's definitely derivative. Close enough you can hear the similarities, not close enough to get sued. Oy. And "Awesome God" WAS an awesome song by Rich Mullins, a REAL musician, before it got completely watered down into a Jesus Jingle.

Ummm.....actually, they're NOT the same damn song. While the chorus of "Battlefield" shares the same basic chord progression with "Awesome God," its vocal melody is entirely different. This happens all the time in pop music. For example, "So Lonely" by the Police and "With or Without You" by U2 both utilize the same four chord progression, but are they the same song? Absolutely not.

I don't know....I heard Awesome God a million times as a kid and I never once thought of it while listening to Battlefield.

Okay, so I definitely was telling my mom this while we were watching her performance. Called it!

Has anyone else pointed out the irony of the situation:

Jordin does a song with Chris Brown... and then she does a song about love being a Battlefield?

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha....

Yeah... sorry but I think this is stretching it a little bit. Awesome God has been one of my favorite songs for a long time but I didn't think of it when I heard Jordan sing it or when I listened to it again. A couple lines have a slightly similar tune but..... :\

Ditto to whoever said that about the Rich Mullins song though.

Shit, here I was thinking it sucked just because it was as repetitive as Halo, but it's also a ripoff in sound with Awesome God and a ripoff in theme with Pat Benetar.

Jordin is soooooooooooooooooo faaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttt!!!! Eleven!!!!!!

Well, I had to endure the puke-a-licious opening to "Battlefield" but it IS note for note a ripoff of the chorus of "Awesome God."

I'll bet in concert she even has the drones clap in unison in the hope that the mothership will come and pick them all up and take them to wherever they think they are going.
