Kelly Clarkson is Not Happy With Her New Single "Already Gone"

If you haven't heard Kelly Clarkson's new single, Already Gone, you might think you already have when you do finally hear it. Turns out the guy that wrote it, perpetual crap songwriter Ryan Tedder, penned the song for Kelly and then wrote a similar song for Beyonce called Halo. When Kelly realized that Ryan had written a song with a very similar sound for Beyonce and it was released as a single, she fought to not have it released as her new single. Predictably, her record label didn't listen and it releasing it as the third single anyway. Kelly blames the record company, but let's place the blame on the correct party here: Ryan Tedder and his formulaic, predictable songwriting. People... stop hiring him. Above, you can hear what Already Gone would sound like when played over the background music to Halo. Basically, the same song.

ever since around 1996 or 1997, pop music has been on a steady decline. Unoriginality, Commercialized, factory-made, auto-tuned crap is all we hear now, and the kids are eating it up! why? because it's so easy to digest. when people hear utter shit like One Republic, and Nickelback, you can't help but wonder just how long it took for these songs to be written. Kids today don't care about exciting new music, they care about music you can fuck to. they care about music you can drink to. their minds are closed to the art that makes up a truly amazing HOOK or RIFF that will be remembered after 50 years.

the 21st century so far has been a truly sad century for music.

Kelly should stop singing so many song like these:

Since U Been Gone

Gone

Never Again

It's just that they all seem to be about the same concepts.

I agree with whoever said that today's music is mostly formulaic crap. Gone are the days when we had amazing songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Dolly Parton, etc. But we can't blame Kelly if some of her songs are poppy because for one, she tried to put out good music with My December but it fell by the wayside even though I believe it's one of the most amazing albums produced this decade. She wrote remarkable tunes like Sober, Irvine, and Maybe - something you couldn't say of many popstars today. I guess kids of today just won't have none of it.

She recently performed a knockout version of Walking After Midnight by Patsy Cline and her true bluesy sound shone through. She said that if her record label would support a blues/folk album, she'd do it because she has the chops for it and the credibility to do so since she's from Texas.

Anyway, about the Already Gone and Halo controversy, I think what really ticks Kelly off is the fact that it isn't just a Ryan Tedder track. She also had a hand at the melody, not just the lyrics, and in fact an insider at RCA said that Kelly has 40% songwriting credits on the song while Ryan only has 30%. There's nothing more frustrating than seeing a tune you've conceived in your mind being mashed up and reused by another artist. Kelly has so much respect for her music that she'd go through the lengths of defending it in public. Because music is second nature to her, I can see her still making albums ten, twenty years from now. She's here to stay.

Trust me, I know enough about music to know if an artist is the real deal or just a passing fad.
