Kelly Clarkson in Hot Water with Clive Davis and RCA

It looks like Kelly speaking out about Ryan Tedder's duplicity got her into trouble with living dead Clive Davis and her record label, RCA. According to The Prophet blog, Kelly was warned prior to Already Gone being released that if she spoke up against the song and made it known that it was a knock-off of Beyonce's Halo, all promotion for the album would be pulled. Now that she has, it looks like there may be no more music videos, no more appearances, and no more money spent on promoting the album to try to spite her. Seriously? Is there any way for her to get out of this contract? This is just ridiculous after her former fight with Clive about "My December". This is what you all have to look forward to, future Idol winners.

It's obviously bullshit since Clive Davis isn't even in charge of her anymore. He was demoted to J Records, Barry Weis is head of RCA/Jive now....

Actually, I'm pretty sure he's now head of Sony/BMG. At least that's how they announced him at Whitney's pre-release thing last week.

But whatever, he's still a decrepit douche.

Currently Davis is the Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music Entertainment Worldwide. He currently plays a part in the careers of Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and is working on a new album with Whitney Houston for her comeback in mid 2009.

True? No?

Come to think of it, I don't think this is too accurate. They don't say were they got the info. Plus, I don't think they can give her "permission" to sing a song SHE wrote (and probably owns the rights to) with a different arrangement. Not only that, she changes songs all the time. Since you Been Gone, Hazel Eyes, A Moment Like This, Breakaway, Because of You and Beautiful Disaster are all sung with a different arrangement now. That's what makes me question the accuracy of this blog.

Cancelling promotion for one of Sony's top artists wouldn't just hurt Kelly, it'd hurt the Sony bottom line. Control freak Clive needs remember he's got an obligation to shareholders that takes priority over his egomania before he gets fired and is given a golden parachute worth gazillions with which he can use to buy retirement mansion in Boca Raton where he can spend his last days before he kicks the bucket.

We love Kelly - time to start treating her with the respect she deserves as the artist who's been bringing home the bacon while Whitney's been doped up on coke all these years.

This is bullshit: they are probably loving all the extra publicity right now. The record co, isn't going to do anything that would lose them money, so they're not going to stop promoting Kelly.

Um, all of you people calling bullshit have short memories. The record company did the same exact thing to "My December". They released one single, didn't promote it much, watched it fall down the charts, and then did nothing else. The record failed to go platinum.

That's exactly what's being threatened here, which would make sense, since they did it once already.

RCA already issued a statement about how this originated from Perez Hilton; it's false, they love her, love her album, support her..bla bla bla.

The original idol. Back before they knew how dumb the show was.. and the only one who stands up to the assholes at 19.

^^ My December was a totally different situation. They pulled promo on that to save money since they knew it would sell less than a million no matter what.

So it sells like 800k or something, they make $$$ since there was hardly any money spent on it; and set up Clarkson's "comeback" which makes them even more money.

They are assholes, but not stupid.
