Good for Ju'Not. I'm glad someone is sensible enough to not feel daunted by the AI Producers.

Good lord, TPTB are pushy creatures. :|

MJ has a story up that King of All Idol Suck-Ups, Phil Stacey, is defending the show and insisting that it's not rigged. Oh, and he's promoting an album. I've been having trouble sleeping lately, so I may have to pick it up.

Wow, could Phil Stacey be any more of a suck-up? Blech.

I guess they're forbidding people to fax the contract to outside counsel because they want the contract to remain confidential - there must be some sort of secrecy clause included in the contract. But apparently they allowed Paris Bennett to bring her own lawyer to auditions in lieu of using the one provided by AI.

The rationale for allowing legal representation to be paid for by the other side IS that most people can't afford to do what Paris Bennett did, so AI providing counsel is for the vast majority of contestants probably better than nothing.

But independent counsel is clearly better than one who's on the honor system not to be conflicted by the conflict of interest - I'll bet Kelly Clarkson would have something different to say from Phil Stacy about the fairness of 19 contracts negotiated by 19 provided lawyers.
