Ayla was one of the best singers, but she came off as uninteresting, and had a bad performance right before the top 12 were chosen. That's why she didn't make it - not because she came off as a snob.

She came off as privileged but not really snobby- snobs don't usually play basketball and that was also a back story- she just didn't have a great performance, that's all- and considering she released an album not long after- the only contestant like herself to ever do that at that point- then it seemed she did have more connections than others- but these people just look bitter saying all this and aren't doing themsevles any favors.

Yeah, you guys clearly don't remember the show. For instance, watch Ayla make the top 24 and tell me that they weren't portraying her as a snob that has everything come easy to her. Not subtle.

The article incorrectly states that Ayla's father is a state Senator, when in fact it has been made clear by a mail bag writer that Ayla's father is a centaur. Bring your dad to school day must have rocked for Ayla.

I remember Ayala, and she does seem like a nice girl but lets face the facts. If it wasn't for her father being a State Senator and her mother being a TV New Reporter, do you think she would have actually been showcased on TV? The obvious answer is "No." The only reason Ayala got TV Exposure was because of her parent's connections. Lets put it this way - there was certainly nothing special about her, and singers and performers like her come a dime a dozen. When she was eliminated I kind of remember the episode. The Final 12 Spot was down to her and another girl(I forget her name). Ayala clearly got outperformed the previous night and Simon told her so. When the other girl was selected over Ayala, I remember Ayala was so pissed she didn't even congraugulate the other contestant. She acted like a spoiled child and a sore loser, and it looked as though she finally got a reality check. She finally realized her parents couldn't get her to advance into the Top 12. The way she acted was a Total Turn Off. It sounds like she is crying Sour Grapes. Like I said she seems like a nice girl, but really who is going to buy her music?

An ABC News article on Paula's dismissal and Ju'Noy Joyner's comments about Idol (listen to his VFTW Radio appearance), also had a very interesting passage by former Idol contestant Ayla Brown. Ayla was also a really interesting guest on VFTW Radio, and she mentioned a lot of this to us back then as well.
Ayla's right. She was portrayed on the show as a snob who made it on the show because of connections, but she probably surprised the producers when she sang really well and survived a few rounds of cuts due to her good performances. Turns out Ayla is a well spoken and interesting girl who worked hard for what she has going for her.
We love the Idols coming out of the woodwork to agree with Ju'Not. What do you think?
