Paula Abdul Tells TV Guide That She Walked Away from Idol on Principle

Paula Abdul tells TV Guide that she walked away from Idol on principle, not for money. Which basically translates into the principle was that she wasn't getting enough money. She also outlines plans for a talk show (hilariously awful, we'd watch) and brags about her 23 year career (thought she forgets about the 1992-2001 time period where no one cared about her). But hey, we're big proponents of the Rehabdul, so we say bring her back to Idol! Countdown until the publicity stunt that is "Paula leaving" is finally over and Paula rejoins the show...

Walked away?

More like staggered away.

Paula was never going to get $10M from producers. They lept at the chance to dump her when she sent out the Twitter page. We love her drug-induced comments during the show but Paula has been an embarassment to AI more than enought times.

Her comment about the 20-year career is funny. She has some hits in the 80's then was fired from several hobs, then disappeared. A Paula talk show? She can hardly string two sentences together during AI.

Randy is fat

I think Simon should put her on his US X-Factor whenever he gets it on the air (last year he said he'd like to air it during Idol's downtime).

For sure it's not about money, because people who are driven by money want to maximize profits above all else based on a belief like for example that you can buy away the humiliation you feel in being the lowest paid figurehead on the show - below even Seacrest and Randy - with stuff like Christian Louboutin shoes.

To each his own - Paula's all heart, so would want love more than money I would think. I don't know that a talk show when she's known for having slurred speech is maybe the way to go about trying to get either, though.

How about Vegas though - look how long Wayne Newton lasted! omg - the original Worster if ever there was one - yikes!

Publicity stunt? Of course. Will she really come back? Lots of blogs didn't even think it would even go this far. I think she couldn't get paid what she wanted for being a regular but, they did pay her enough to make a big deal over her leaving.

If Paula gets a talk show it will be easier to make fun of then Wendy Williams.

Poor Paula was once again misquoted by a hostile and misunderstanding press. She did not say she walked away from Idol "on principle."

Her actual comment was that she walked away from Idol "on Propoxyphene," a narcotic pain reliever related to Oxycontin. Which offers a much better understanding of her "decision making process."
