lol F.A.G, and you should get yourself one of those Clark Kent reporter hats, too. I hope Idol does go back to that format, they were stupid to even change it.

You should have just left it as Alexia Grace. It was funnier that way. She is so unmemorable and stole Tatiana's spot in the Top 13.

I like the format switching back for the most part. Would have been nice to see another round of Norman, Ricky Braddy, Ju'Not, Mishavonna, etc. Alex Wagner Truman WOULDN'T have made it past the top 24 anyway though. His performance was arguably the worst of the entire season.

At first I was glad when they changed the format back to the original way with voting people in, because I miss the way the show was before it became the monster it is now. But last season would've been completely different if they had kept they boy/girl rounds, and in a better way I think. Some seasons have still ended up shitty that way, but at least we can hear a little more so I can truly know who I like and who I hate going into the top 12!

Alex was NOT the worst. Stevie Wright was. I support Top 24 over Top 36, but the downside is that cool people have a smaller chance of making it, and we will probably have less VFTW love. The best way to balance the two formats would be to make the semifinals longer and make it a Top 36 with Top 24-type elimination and boy/girl days. Not sure about you, but I like the semifinals. Many trainwrecks occur there, and there are a lot of people to choose from. This is not gonna happen, though, since they'll never squeeze 18 performances into 2 hours. The waste-of-space contestants in this year's Top 13 were Jasmine Murray, Alexis Grace, and Michael Sarver. Jorge Nunez should have made the tour.

aren't they talking about boy/girl rounds during Hollywood week? I think they have had those regardless of whether it was a top 24 or 36 type semi. I'm all for going back to top 24 too though, unfortunately the show is never willing to admit they make mistakes so they'll have to find some excuse to revert to top 24.

Either way, the show drags on longer than it needs to. Isn't the top 24 when they have 2 singing nights and then the results show? Idol three days a week again? ugh... I feel my scrotum shriveling already.

During American Idol 8, the producers made an idiotic decision. Yes, there were many stupid decisions made, but the worst was to vote people in to the top 12, unlike the previous 4 seasons where contestants were voted out. Voting people out gave America time to know the contestants and didn't let boring people into the top 12 based on one performance (see: Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver). Well, a Variety article that quotes Mike Darnell, Fox alternative chief, suggests that the show may be actually fixing its mistake. Talking about Ellen as the new judge, he said:
Please let it be so. It's so much more interesting to watch. Think about it: Nick Mitchell, Tatiana Del Toro, and Alexander Wagner-Trugman would have given us at least 2 performances each. Probably more. That would have possibly made the show brilliant. Then again, Idol never actually fixes its mistakes, so it's unlikely that the show will do anything that helps itself.
