They are about a billion times more entertaining than anything Leona Lewis has ever done.

Next week is movie week, so I am waiting eagerly to hear what kind of song they will be "singing". It would be great TV if they performed Tiny Dancer ( from Almost Famous), as that would maximise the criticism and anger from the Cowell, but I suspect their "mentor" will choose something with a minimal amount of singing. Perhaps Gangsta's Paradise (from Dangerous Minds), Lose Yourself ( from 8 Mile), Old Time Rock and Roll ( from Risky Business), or I could see them doing a camp routine to Eye of the Tiger ( from one of the Rocky movies) with dancers and a boxing ring.

Thinking about it a bit more, I can almost envision Jedward creating television magic if they did Maniac (Flashdance) or Shaft (Shaft). I can see their mentor enjoying a Flashdance-like performance by his young charges. If they performed Shaft, it would set race relations in the UK back decades.

Worsters unite!! All we have to do is keep Jedward out of the bottom two for the next three weeks... after that the judges have no more saves and solely the public vote will determine who survives. Knowing the British's public appetite for the underdog and for novelty acts, this may actually result in them winning.

I'm glad that at least the British "get it". Its entertainment we want, not cookie cutter crap. Nobody in their right mind would think they are good singers, and I think they would cause a radio to self-destruct. However, I'd pay to see a live show. It's all about entertainment, and when will the American counterparts ever get that? Canadian Idol gets it, to a certain degree. I'm pretty convinced that if X-Factor comes here, it will be watered down considerably.

Saturday's show was absolutely dire, with every act out of tune to some degree and duration. If it was truly a talent competition, they would all be voted out. Since it isn't about talent but about entertainment, then I am all for Jedward. To pass the time between shows (and while I nurse a cold), I have been going to some of the UK websites to take the piss out of the numpties that take the show seriously.

rumours are that they're going to do "Ghostbusters" for Movie Night. If that's not an inspired choice, I don't know what is...
