I think you're thinking of Japan, which has been known to claim to be homogenous. China recognizes a number of ethnic races (For example, Han is the majority, while the last Imperial dynasty was Manchu.) They certainly know what racism is.

They may not be as experienced with black people, but that's definitely no excuse for what was done to this poor girl.

I find the comments by some people to be so ignorant as to make me wonder if they had a lobotomy or brain damage. This is clearly a case of racism and xenophobia. I have Asian blood coming from the Caribbean but I don't show it. My daughter goes to a school that teaches Mandarin and has been going since she was five. I have been a part of a group that basically reflects the U.N. and we all respect each others culures but we also know when racism rears its ugly head. The shame is that the Chinese have taken the same old racism that is propageted in this country (U.S.) and used to attack a very bright and talented young lady, who will probably go on to have a better career than many of her detractors. I think that the Chinese forget how they were viewed by Europeans especially those in the U.S. and they need to really look at their history. Arrogance is not a virtue and I have had enough of it from Whites, Hispanics and Asians.
