Kris Allen Debuts at #11 on the Billboard 200, Sells 80,000 Copies

Well that's about what we expected. Kris Allen's album will debut on the Billboard 200 at #11, selling 80,000 copies in its first week. This does make him the lowest selling Idol winner in first week sales ever. Part of it is the boring first single "Live Like We're Dying", part of it is the lack of promotion he's getting from 19E, who seems to want to spend all of their time aboard the fail train with Adam Lambert. Adam is estimated to sell about 200,000 copies of his album in its first week, which is about what we expected since most of those are preorders. Look for Adam's album to quickly decline soon after. Ruben was the American Idol winner who sold the most albums. Probably because it was before the area of itunes. And where is he now?

Let's see who has the most staying power.

There's no way Adam will stay near the top for very long. This month is almost over and there are far more established and popular artists releasing albums in December.

Once his crazy fantards waste all of their money buying every copy of it they see, I'm sure that it will sink fairly quickly.

And I'm sorry that Kris' album didn't have a better first week. It's actually good and he's actually cool, unlike Adam.

Shit. It should have been 80,001. It was on sale last weekend and I told my wife to buy a copy, but she forgot. It took me at least two minutes to forgive her.

Yes, frauen pre-ordered and still keep buying Lambert album. Multiple copies, tons of copies.

Here is waht they say on AO today:

"Good idea! I just bought the MP3 of FYE album from amazon. I already bought 6 CDs and 3 deluxe from itunes. But I want to show more support for Adam.

If you key in the promotion code of 'MP34FREE' to 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code', you basically buy the MP3 of FYE for free meaning $0.00 balance.

This is one of the best ways to support Adam. It only took me a few minutes to buy the MP3. If we all buy it, Adam might sell over 225,000 copies."

I'm actually sorry for Kris because I've kinda come around to him, and while his CD wasn't anything special, it was pretty good and leaps better than Adam's. Oh well win some lose some.

So that's probably the biggest question: Will Kris out sell Adam in the long run or will his sales tank just as fast as Adam's?

Releasing this album when everyone else on the planet is releasing an album and then not promoting it is not a way for a record label to treat an act.

I have to admit though, I am a big fan of Kris' album.
