American Idol 9 Hollywood Contestant Angela Martin's Mother is Missing

Fox Chicago is reporting that Angela Martin, a past Idol contestant who has made it to Hollywood again this year, is experiencing a tragedy. Angela's mother, Viola Martin Brown, went missing the day after Christmas, and no one in her family has heard from her since. Angela told Fox Chicago that she knows her mom is still alive, and they need help finding her. We hope Angela's mother is alright, and we encourage you to contact Chicago Police if you have any information. We'll keep you updated as we learn more and we'll link to Fox once they put something up on their website.

Since the Hollywood rounds have not been filmed yet for Idol, we can hope that Idol isn't terrible enough to exploit this story on their show, especially since Angela's father is dead and Idol already did a long piece about Angela's special needs daughter. Who are we kidding... Idol has no decency.

UPDATE: Fox finally put the story up on their site. Took them 12 hours.

I know the area where Angela's Mom lives, good middle class suburb. Her car was found in an area that suggests foul play; industrial off a major street, pretty much an empty area on the weekend. My first impression is it don't look good. Saw Angela interviewed on Fox Chicago, she looks to be holding up well considering the circumstances.

I can't believe this was Fox Chicago's lead story on the evening news, yet they haven't put anything on their website.

Though, if true, my prayers are with her and her family. However, I would not put it past people to pull a "boy in weather balloon" stunt, knowing how Idol operates. A'Wun probably understands this. Look at all the publicity Gokey got on his dead wife? Look at our own rules of how to get on Idol ("Develop a nice sob story") It is very easy to give someone a bus ticket to Inbred, Alabama and park their car in a rough neighborhood to make it look good, and then cry to the media.

My condolences and prayers to her and her family... though you have to admit. Her dad gets murdered last time she tried out for idol.. now her mom is missing 2nd go around.

Angela, I think god is telling you to stay away from American Idol.. :x

How horrible.

Makes you wonder what the hell that family is into. First dad's murdered, then mom disappears and her car shows up in the shitty side of town.

I feel for Angela. She's kinda screwed if she makes a deal out of this, and screwed if she doesn't. I hope her mom turns up.
