Terrible story and I hope she turns up okay, but I recommend against contacting the police with information. It's been ruled countless times the police have no statutory duty to do *anything*, and judging by all of the recent incidents of misconduct and brutality (if not outright murder), it would be prudent to stay off their radar screen. At length, they are not your friends. Instead, contact Angela directly (I'm sure she has contact information posted somewhere) or even contact FOX Chicago. Heed my warning, and Happy New Year.

But as you mentioned, Idol has no decency. Thus, naturally, if Angela remains in the competition and they send her through to the Top 24, whether her mother returns home safely or something tragic occurred (injury/death)--or perhaps, even especially, if she withdraws--Idol will Syesha Asia'h Gokey this story to no end. Why? Not because it's exploitative! They're simply conveying the intense struggles of their Idol contenders.
