Amber Caparas - American Idol 9 Hollywood Contestant

(None of these contestants are 100% confirmed in Hollywood, but we have sources that suggest they've made it to Hollywood for season 9 of American Idol)

Amber Caparas is a college student at the College of Charleston where she runs track and plays music on the side. There's something kind of different about her, in a good way. She seems kind of carefree and fun... so far, we can't really dislike her.

Edited To Add: Turns out this girl does have media connections. Her dad, Wayne Caparas, runs a production company called Caparas Media and did some work in films. Her uncle, Rally Casparas, is a CNN Correspondent and traffic reporter for CNN Headline News. So while not necessarily a music industry plant, she has enough relatives in the entertainment business to help her out here.

Oh Yeah, this clip is her opening for the Hootie &; the Blowfish guy and her Dad's (I'm assuming) youtube account features her interview with Stephen Baldwin. She's not a plant. Oh no, just some random college student who likes to sing on the side. That's believable. She does seem nice though.

There's a whole lot of emoting going on here. Pretty voice, I like her, but I think she'll have trouble with the dreck they make them sing on the show. Also not much stage presence, so without a Guitar she'll probably look a little lost

I was going to make a stupid but true comment lol.

Anyways I'll make it.

All of the hispanics in AI have connections, if they hadn't... none would be there. In fact any hispanic in a nice job has connections, else they wouldn't have nice jobs.

I'm hispanic and sadly that's how this country runs. Good thing I had connections to get my job. lol

Not that we are not capable, but that's just how the country runs, even though the majority likes to live in their own little fairy tale where discrimination doesn't exist.

Anyways, I said the comment was stupid... but true. ;)

hard to tell if this girl is gonna be good or not based on this..... Why was she opening for Hootie and the Blowfish? Are they still playing and if so, she should be penalized. Good cover choice though.

I've known Amber personally for the last few years. Trust me, this girl is as real as they come even if she does have a news reporter uncle.

She's a track runner, martial artist, and a photographer amongst other things. She's not hispanic, she's Filipino.

All of her serious performances have been in the last 6 months in order to prepare for what she could only officially tell us was a "big opportunity."

Strong girl with a heart of gold.
