Holy motherfucking melisma, Batman. Todrick Hall doesn't have a bad voice, but the ridiculous amount of runs he adds to songs like the one above make him sound like an idiot. Will he continue to do this while on Idol, possibly securing himself a spot as the VFTW pick? Todrick was a cruise ship singer that then landed a role in Broadway's The Color Purple. Soon after, he wrote a musical called Oz: The Musical which has starred former American Idol contestants Vonzell Solomon and Diana DeGarmo, former Danity Kane member Aundrea Fimbres, So You Think You Can Dance contestant Thayne Jaspersen, and more. He wrote and directed a damn musical that's touring the country. With that kind of networking, what the heck does Todrick need Idol for? He's ruining his career by doing this.
Well perhaps he is looking for new ways to be an attention whore. His musical saw some rough times when he attempted a tour with new cast members (not Diana).
His voice would be quite pleasant without all those runs, makes me want to shove a big STOP sign down his throat. Hopefully somebody will work with him on that.
When this guy was mentioned at mjs, some of the posters brought up his shady history. He 's ripped off parents of kids who wanted to perform as extras in his show, he misrepresented the Equity Union status of his show to cast members, Diana DeGarmo left the show after an early 2009 run in Texas because of the shady behavior by Hall, and the summer 2009 incarnation of the "national tour" ended with him leaving the cast unpaid and out of a job --abruptly. Do a VFTW investigation on this guy if he's a chosen one. It seems there might be ex cast members willing to spill the dirt.
