We've known it for weeks, but it's finally official. Simon Cowell says that American Idol 9 is his last season. RIP American Idol 2002-2010. We didn't even have to kill the show, the staff did it themselves. Loving it! X Factor should debut in America in 2011, hopefully with Paula Abdul back off her meds, and we'll make an easy switch while Idol goes under.

So what do you think? Is Idol toast now that Simon's leaving? Leave a comment.

They need to bring in the biggest asshole ever to replace him. What's George W. Bush up to?

RIP American Idol. No way will it survive with Kara, Randy, and Ellen. Bring on the X Factor where they can have back up dancers, pyrotechnics, stay puft marshmallow man, and judges sabotaging each others acts

Hehe eheehe last season and then that's all she wrote.

I wonder if X Factor will last as long or the audience will be so over karaoke in a couple years it folds with terrible ratings.

I don't hold much hope for an American X Factor. Seriously, they coach the contestants and then champion them? So it's like, "you suck but I trained you to suck so I'm going to say you didn't suck." I truly hope nobody will buy into that crap. Well, it's just like American Idol but with the bullshit very obvious. People bought into AI so maybe I should back peddle a bit.

Idol is still #1 in the ratings, so, sadly, I believe AI is here to stay for at least a few more years. Only it'll be such garbage that we won't even bother with it by the time X-Factor debuts.

The judging panel for AI will be Ellen Degeneres and three people no one cares about. If they're looking for a slow, painful death, they're gonna get one. Win!

I never really thought about it but I think I'll stop watching if Cowells gone.

I know what's toast. Your site is toast. No idea why you're so happy about Idol ending since end of Idol = end of VFTW. If it wasn't for Idol, your site wouldn't even have existed.

Cowell is overrated as a judge. He was slow to recognize many of those idols who went on to have the most success.

For the first few weeks of the first season, he though Kelly Clarkson was forgettable. He voted against sending Chris Daughtry to Hollywood after his audition. The same thing happened to David Cook during Hollywood week. Cook made it through because of Randy and Paula. In fact, Pauler in her drug induced stupor was better able to recognize talent than Cowell.

They should replace Simon with Ari Emanual, the brother of Rahm Emanual who is in the Obama administration. Ari started his own talent agency and is supposed to be a real character and quite obnoxious. The main character on the show Entourage is suppose to based on Ari. I think idol would be way more interesting with Ari than this soon to be has been.

Idol is finished. Remember, Sony hands out the recording contracts to Idol winners. With Sony's rep no longer on the show, aka Cowell, they will go to the show Cowell controls completely. In this case, X-Factor. After the last few AI winners doing too poorly for Sony's liking, they have had it with Fuller. This was not just Cowell's doing, but Sony's as well.
