^^ Yes, it's not a "big deal." Yet well-adjusted and non-emotionally damaged people don't bandy about offensive epithets like that. He is putting himself up for judgment in front of the American public and we deserve to know what kind of person he is. People who behave in a disgusting manner should not have the right to hide their horrible behavior. We have to distinguish between privacy and secrecy. Everybody deserves privacy, but nobody deserves secrecy. Got it?

This guy looks like a total douche, with his plaid golf hat. So we get the vid of him, a bunch of networks having a slow news day find it on the site, broadcast that "AMERICAN! IDOL! CONTESTANT! USES! RACIAL! SLUR!," the frauen who take the show too seriously find out, are put off from him, and so are the preteens who are totally offended that he said it, no one likes him, no one votes for him, and then someone we think is awesome has more of a chance.

For the record, it is not at all uncommon for latinos (mostly latinos of African descent, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, etc, but not necessarily) to refer to eachother as "nigga". I'd bet $20 that that's what the deal is here.
