This would be news if it was recent, but these convictions happened 8 years ago. I;m not condoning what he did, but Idol lets former convicts on the show so long as they confess their past arrests. Trying a little too hard, perhaps, STP?

First of all it's just a rumor right now. No actual evidence or quotes from anyone (nevermind anyone with validity) have been released. Even if he did drive drunk it was almost 10 years ago when he was what? 17 or 18 years old? Hardly a hardened criminal. Maybe he was just young and stupid like most kids that age and he learned his lesson. I don't think it should keep him from persuing anything he wants to. I'd rather see the galactically talentless Paris Hilton dissapear permanantly or if your going to go back a few years on someone how about Matthew Broderick who actually killed 2 people in Ireland while "driving recklessly"(yah right) in 1987 when he was 25!!
