Stern to Mel Karmazin: "What are you going to offer me to stay? Idol is offering me $$$$$$$. Your bid, please?" That is what this is, a contract ploy. There is a better chance of TMZ catching Smartie hand-in-hand with Michael Johns than Stern signing onto Idol.

i am tired of people always saying this is a family show ! all the sexual inuendo banter that is allowed weekly. um bikini girl and then bikni whore flashing skin . who was that broad a few yrs ago that only wore super mini skirts to distract from her screaching....haley ? Ryan used to wear see through shirts , paula had her gurl out there every week along with simon. so lets be real this is an adult show that kids are allowed to watch . anyhow more kids get into racier things at home on there computers and phone than can ever be broadcast on AI . bring stern on for the last yr of AI .

"Whatevs. I think Stern is a pig (as do a lot of others) and for a family show like AI I highly doubt he will be chosen as a judge. He is the "shock jock" and there's no way he can hold that title on American Idol. I call shenanigans." FUCK U

VFTW victory indeed if Stern goes this way. Talk about high ratings, man, if Howard took this gig the ratings would eclipse any seen so far. After a few eps viewers would be "Simon who?" It would be brutally hilarious.

For VFTW, this would be a great idea. For Idol... not so much. Personally, I think Stern is disgusting, but that's just my opinion. I'd still probably watch the show because... hey... it's Idol. But despite the homo-errotic banter and bikini girl-ish crap, Idol's main audience tends to lean towards the christian/conservative/family type of audience. They would NOT be thrilled with a decision like that. The Parent's Television Council would have a hayday with him (I hate those guys btw). Then again, maybe he'd bring in an entire new demographic of Idol watchers. BUt as someone already said... I also don't think it would be as epic as you think because Fox would censor the hell out of him.

Big Stern fan here but I'm not excited about this. The only way it would be cool is if they let him be himself. I can't see the machine letting Stern tell people the truth as he sees it.

Not gonna happen...however, if it's true he's been approached by AI, it just goes to show that they aren't "judges", they're entertainers pretending to be judges. Personally I can't stand Howard Stern, but if he were to replace Seacrest it would be pretty funny. They need someone with a British accent to replace Simon because whatever that person said would sound snooty and arrogant.
