ALL wannabe actors/singers in LA are waitresses at some point. Still just a miniplanty.

Well, I look at it this way. Why should someone who's never done much more than sing in their shower be more worthy than someone who has spent years trying to break into the business?

Of course, I'm only giving her a break because she's got the potential to look pretty good on my screen. Plus she's an excellent singer.

People who try out for idol, and are good enough to make the top 12, have OF COURSE tried to make it in the industry before Idol. That's a big DUH.

If you're talented, and want to do what you're talented at for a living, OF COURSE you are not going to wait for a stupid contest to come along for you to finally go after your dreams. OF COURSE you will have tried to make them a reality before.
