All of this is very true. And I do remember Rebecca Schaeffer - even watched that show she did with Pam Dawber (Dauber?), whose name escapes me now.

My PhD advisor used to say they should put Wellbutrin in the water supply. It's a stimulating antidepressant (as opposed to the Prozac-types) but since OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) is also controlled by the same neural systems, maybe he's right. The psychologists need to get on the ball and figure out exactly *why* these kind of obsessions occur, because the 'net and the mobility of our societies these days gives these people far too much reinforcement and opportunity - like you were saying. I don't get what turns it from watching TV to a personal affront, frankly, but someone somewhere must be able to figure it out. Where are the FBI profilers when you really need them?

Saying that this site is worse than the Holocaust and 9/11 is completely wrong. This site is merely entertainment for people who are be extremely bored and have no lives. The highlight of their day is the angry letters posted on this site. The best thing to do is to ignore it completely. If this is all they have to do with their time, then they must have boring lives. This is probably what gets them through the day, so let them just have their entertainment. Simple minds are easily entertained. My advice is... Just ignore all this foolishness, rise about all the immaturity, and keep voting for the singers you think are the most talented.

Yes, we're all thinking about VA Tech and about how disgusting it really is. I was on the AI boards yesterday and someone started a post with Sanjaya= VA Teach shooter. I was appalled. Regardless of your opinion of Sanjaya, or any other contestant for that matter, a person should never make such a disgusting comparison.

It made me begin to think of the comparisons that take place on this website and about how shocked I am at some of the things people say. Whether or not your a a supporter of Sanjaya, calling others gay or retarded, equating the situation to the Holocaust or 9/11, and using religious statements, completely destroys any sort of argument that you may have. All you do is inappropriately offend people and prove that you have no backbone to your point.

As a teacher (currently on my lunch break), I am shocked by the blatantly offensive remarks of some people. I know I was taught to behave better than that and I do not allow my students to insult people as some are doing. Learn the proper ways of debating and then make a point on this website.
