Ok, maybe I shouldn't do this, but here's some math for you guys who think that it's the VFTW site's fault:

Once the "top 24" get on television, there is approximately a 4.17% chance that any one of them will win. That percentage increases weekly, unless "your favorite" gets voted off. Why don't you blame all the people who voted for anyone but "your favorite" when they get voted off?

Here's how it breaks down:

24: 4.17%

23: 4.35%

22: 4.54%

21: 4.76%

20: 5%

--skip a little here--

10: 10%

9: 11.11%

8: 12.5%

7: 14.29%

6: 16.67%

5: 20%

4: 25%

3: 33.33%

2: 50%

So as you can see, the percentages really don't start changing drastically until about the 7 contestants mark.

As I mentioned in a previous post, none of these folks who are talented really [i]need[/i] the approval of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, or Paula Abdul to make it. They could pursue it on their own.

Some of you people who slam VFTW should really evaluate what's important to you. If your entire existence revolves around a "reality" show, what do you do when it isn't on television?

Here's why I support VFTW.

This is just a single perspective, but I'm sure there are a lot of other guys in the same boat as me.

My wife likes AI. Therefore, I must watch it. Not only watch it, but tolerate it.

Della Terza has created a wonderful place for the husbands of wives who love the show. It's like gambling almost. It's watching a game that you don't care about, but now with a vested interest. It's putting $50 on Vermont State beating Hartford Community College in chess. In the end, who cares. But I'm up $50.

First, on what are you basing your statement that Sanjaya is a "satan worshipper"? Somehow, I don't think that he has put this in his personal description somewhere, and it isn't typical interview fodder for the judges. Further, to suggest that, simply because you don't like him that he is the "spawn of satan" is deplorable, and certainly does not demonstrate a Christian perspective. I am unaware of ANY christian denomination that identifies ANY human as being "satan-spawned"...not even mass-murderers. To suggest this, again, simply because he has not been voted off and you don't like him demonstrates that, unfortunately, you spend WAY too much time watching Idol, and not nearly enough time reading that Bible you say you've been studying. Try reading the sections when Jesus is describing the self-righteous pharisees, and see if you don't fit more into THAT category than the "christian" category you choose to identify yourself as. BTW - the more you read, the more likely you will be to spell correctly and use proper grammar.

Secondly, to paint all who run or contribute to this site, OR who vote for Sanjaya, with the "you're all going to hell" brush is ridiculous! I refer you again to the scriptures that describe the fate of the self-righteous...

I'm sure there are plenty of execs waiting for Melinda to be voted off the show like hungry dogs eyeing a juicy steak. The second she's let go, they'll be tripping over each other with contracts that are worth more than Idol's. Or, they can keep her in, and have the possibility of her becoming either a one-hit or no-hit wonder (like the previous black winners Reuben and Fantasia, respectively). The best thing you can do to is to let her go. She'll be okay.
