I agree with you totally. I have a 16-year old who thinks Nirvana was over-rated. I had to pull over on the highway to give it to her with both barrels. I will always owe a debt of gratitude to Kurt &; Co. for killing hair metal. Killing Ratt and Warrant and Cinderella and all those other lame cock-rock bands that sucked so bad. Between Nirvana and Pearl Jam, those two bands acted as a musical enema, cleansing the American constipated colon of so much crap.

I have done what I could by introducing my daughter to the Beatles and Bowie and so many other really good, challenging music. I took her to see one of the Ramones last shows here in Atlanta. Now she is taking drum lessons.

There is hope for this upcoming generation. Adopt a kid and make them listen to something that really moved you. Not My Chemical Romance or any other crap that is so derivative but those seminal acts their vanilla bands steal from and watch a sprout grow.
