dave this is ridiculous, the show is about ratings and making money obviously, and its a singing competition, put 2 and 2 together, they need good singers to get people interested and voting for them, they do not turn down great singers, yes they pass on the bad ones in the audition rounds...because its hilarious, BUT theyre not stupid and know that after the auditions are over they better have some good singers, or there would be no american idol, they send home the ones who cant sing, they would not send home a great singer if the singer could make the show money, youre ignoring common sense, and i dont think this whole "truth about the auditions" article is shocking in the least, people watch AI after the auditions are over cause its teh good singers time, so why would they turn great singers down if they could make the ratings higher? that makes absolutely no sense at all, the people complaining that they send home the supposedly good singers, are the people who tried out and got rejected, and we all know by now that the people who get turned down who claim theyre good singers are just like the delusional idiots we see on the tv

Being that you are the same idiot who told me that I don't have to pay for bandwidth on the website because the internet is free, I take absolutely nothing you say seriously. Again, talking about things you know nothing about is your specialty, huh? ;-)

Look, if the show was about singing ONLY, no way in hell does Kellie, Bucky, Kevin and Melissa get on. If it was about singing ONLY, you would not have the massive cattle calls for this. It is about making good TV, and ONLY about making good TV. Look at "RockStar". That show even turned down PWE! They are about singing and talent. That is why the ratings are bad for them. They at least have SOME integrity.

See, there&;#39;s one thing that actually bothers me about this article. While most if it is absolutely spot-on, using sources like Jen Sieminski is poor form. Why? Well, because of the motivation. As anyone who knows her will tell you, she&;#39;s not good. At singing. Performing. Or other things. So, when someone like her flames all these other contestants who did well (like McPhee, who I adore), it&;#39;s a total crock. I&;#39;m sure many great singers didn&;#39;t make it through because they got a bad producer or they were boring. But those singers probably won&;#39;t be crying to this web site. They&;#39;ll be getting jobs as singers.

Hello,

I watch Idol, I like the show, it is "entertaining". Nothing against your article or you. It was written very well. But, I think the only people that would have learned anything from it are frikkin idiots. Anyone who actually believes in those myths that you have stated need their heads checked. Letting bad people through is all part of TV. Think about it, how good would the show be if we had to sit and listen to Celine Dion and Josh Groban. The bad singers and idots make for good TV. Again well written article but not to revieling to people of average intelligence.

hmm. isn&;#39;t that best part of all this that never ONCE has Dave here been called a liar? I think that American Idol is an American Scam although I do believe that Kelly Clarkson was a small exception to the rules. I believe that she could&;#39;ve made it big without that british arse hole, anyway.

A few weeks ago, I had a substitute teacher that was on AI. He was a great singer and did get through to see the judges (oh, poor him, he had to spend several minutes in Simon&;#39;s presense). But he told me that the girl in front of him DID NOT CRY and HER RESPONSE FROM THE JUDGES WAS DIFFERENT ON TV. Reality TV? shh, more like Scammers on Demand.

William Hung rocks though. he almost made me like AI.

Good article! Strange how people don&;#39;t realize AI is all about entertaining television. And as such, they CAN&;#39;T pass people through who are so amazing they&;#39;d blow everyone away. It would be no contest.

I&;#39;d love to hear that Taylor Hicks story, though, in as much detail as possible!

I like how people are sometimes surprised that people who seem to be sweet and lovely on TV could be royal bitches to work with. Trust me; I know of at least two cases of stars (One Broadway actress and one film actress) who you would all recognize and who have great reputations and have been complete dicks to the people around them. One of them prompted a well-respected music director to say aloud "i wish Patti LuPone were in this show." The other threw a chair at a dresser because she didn&;#39;t like the the costume selected for her. If miss McPhee was an arrogant beyotch backstage, i&;#39;m not shocked.
