She's a amazing singer and your are just jealous because shes hot and all you can do is jerk off when you watch her performances because that's as close you will get to her. I think your website is awful. You are ruining these top reality shows. I think this is a waste of time even posting a comment. All your people also wasting their time should stop. It is simply retarded. I know all of us want to end with this site, but it may not happen. This is how it is, and it will stay this way. So, I decided that there are two types of people who send mail to this site: angry twelve-year-olds who are not yet privy to the idea that everything is as it appears to be (you crushed their dreams! How could you!?), and mildly intelligent (I use this term GENEROUSLY) people who wish to distinguish themselves from those twelve-year-olds by boasting their own intelligence, as meager as it may be. You know, I really want to find out what makes you guys think you have the right to try to destroy other people's entertainment, there is nothing life threatening about it. You all must be seriously misguided to believe that you have the right to do this, has it ever occurred to you all, that some people might actually like it *gasp*. I'm not mailing you to say I think you people are assholes and your life doesn't matter, but I personally don't understand why you are doing this! There are much bigger problems in this world than American Idol! I understand that you think the show is stupid and embarrassing to people, but haven't you noticed that there are A LOT of nasty emails being sent to you? You are making an impact on the world, but it's a negative one! Well, also, American Idol has gotten more publicity since you have gotten more well known! Some people even start watching American Idol, or watch it more to see when whoever you're voting for will be voted off! Plus, American Idol can give people with a dream of singing a chance, and you're ruining it for the people who really deserve it! Oh how I have loved your website! I cannot wait for Season 7 so I can follow American Idol through your eyes one more time. I'm afraid it's too late for my letter to make your mailbag, but I thought the most telling part of last night's finale was Clive Davis' speech. He started out noting the career arcs of various successful Idol alumni, but proceeded to attribute their success to (drum roll, please!) the recording industry! He praised the songwriters, the engineers, the producers, and the promoters ad infinitum. Why? Because to a Clive Davis (to the whole money machine, in fact) it is NOT about the singers! Your critics need to wake up and smell the vinyl. This whole stupid annual extravaganza is NOT about finding and promoting new talent, it's about finding passable talent, locking it up in contracts, packaging it up in a tasty form, and exploiting it. It's about selling music as a package (a la Britney, Back Street Boys, etc, etc, etc) and these poors suckers are swallowing it hook, line, and sinker. I don't know whether I feel worse for the "talent" or the fans. Trust me, these poor Idol "winners" see only a teensy portion of the bucks that are raked in in their names. The whole thing reeks to high heaven. The recording industry is in its death throes, since file sharing has eaten ever further into their obscene profits, and real musicians can produce and disseminate their own albums (via tours, MySpace). The one thing the Clive Davis types still have a lock on is the promotional aspect. Ergo, American Idol. To all you Idol zombies I say, enjoy, you fools. For my part I am grateful to Dave and Professor Chan for their subversive fun.
