American Idol is sorta like the stage mom that pushes it's 3 yr old to excell. It wants this leona lewis person. AI wants to be known as a serious singing competition. But then turns around and doesn't take the best singers. It's obligated to take " the fat black girl"...the asian boy..the gay kid to fill out it's slots or else people would say it is racist.

WIth that said, american idol isn't looking for the best singer...rather it is looking for a good singer..someone with an interesting life story..someone entertaining...

Norman was absolute the best ever. That performance of "And I Am Telling You" was epic. Nothing in Idol history compares to that for entertainment value. Unlike Andrew Garcia's rendition of "Straight Up," it truly was pure genius.
